With more than 60 backers, an updated Kids Online Safety Act finally has a path to passage in the Senate but faces uncertainty in the House. KOSA, first introduced in 2022, would impose sweeping new obligations on an array of digital platforms, including requiring that companies “exercise reasonable care” to prevent their products from endangering kids. The safeguards would extend to their use of design features that could exacerbate depression, sexual exploitation, bullying, harassment, and other harm. I have been reading ample posts on LinkedIn about being sent inappropriate messages and facing unprofessional behavior. Here's my take on the same: Stating 'Society is bad, ignore and move on' is plain. Some even say 'Ignorance is Bliss' and hush things up - Is it even some advice? We people together form a society - we are THE SOCIETY. Being harassed online is unacceptable not just on a platform like LinkedIn but any other social media platforms as well. Raising voice against unprofessional behavior is essential. Today, it might be someone else but tomorrow, it can you or anyone close to you. So, please do not hesitate to talk about it, raise your voice against it, and report it - to help create an online community that is safe.
