While we may not realise it, festive traditions have a lot of invisible labour attached. Planning all of the festive trips, and getting organised for specific dates and gifting opportunities can require a lot of time, energy and planning that often falls to one person in the household and sadly that one person doesn’t often get the joy from these traditions. So here’s what I suggest. Try implementing alternative low maintenance traditions the whole family can get involved in and enjoy like: 💛 A friends and family craft session where gifts can be made and exchanged together. 💛 A bake off where each person is tasked with baking one thing to bring on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. 💛 Writing Christmas Wishes for each other, hanging them on the tree and opening them together. Every tradition started somewhere, who says you need to buy into elf on the shelf or Christmas Eve boxes? Traditions are special because we make them special and they should be something everyone can enjoy. #christmasorganising #christmasprep #professionalorganiser #wellbeingtips

Seasonal rituals gain value with every new year, whether it’s decorating a tree, baking special desserts, watching certain movies or singing Christmas carols. Historically, these traditions don’t mean as much to younger generations unless they’re getting something tangible out of it. Gifts. Money. Food. You know, stuff. As we age, these traditions take on deeper meaning. Nostalgia plays a powerful role. And so does the accumulation of time. Years turn into decades. Decades turn into memories. It gradually becomes less about stuff and more about our feelings regarding stuff. Today’s column: https://lnkd.in/ga8Eh8Gz #traditions

🎉It’s the most wonderful time of the year! 🎉 To celebrate, we surveyed 550 Canadians to see what they had to say about the holiday season. Below you'll find some of our initial findings. 🎁 FESTIVE INSIGHTS🎁: PART 1 🙂 Most Canadians feel positive about the upcoming holidays 😇 Most Canadians think they belong on the nice list (with fewer than 2% seeing themselves as totally naughty – whew!) 🦃 Most Canadian consider ‘holiday meals’ to be their favourite holiday tradition (followed by ‘giving gifts’) 🎄 Most Canadians are putting up an artificial Christmas tree this year 📅 About half of Canadians think Dec 1 is the earliest to start decorating and about half think it’s ok to start even earlier (some as early as right after Halloween 🎃!) Note: This is Part 1, come back next week for more fun holiday data as we get even closer to the holidays!

Decorations Up ✅ Matching PJs ✅ Gifts wrapped ✅ Festive movies watched ✅ Cookies and cakes baked ✅ Festive crafts ✅ When we see festive movies or scroll through social media there are all these expectations of how to make it ‘perfect’. In reality it doesn’t work like that, especially if we are caring for someone. Sometimes, traditions that your family have had for many years may need to change or stop all together. Letting go of expectations and enjoying the festive season that works for you and the person you care for can make it a lot less stressful. Every family is different, and everyone’s festivities will be different too, especially when you are caring. Remember to be flexible as well. If one thing isn’t working, try something else. Do what works for you, not what others expect! It's always worth having a plan B, and be prepared to change your plans if a particular element isn't working. Do you have a plan B this year? Let us know your thoughts below. ⬇️ #CopingDuringTheFestiveSeason #CaringAtChristmas #CopingAtChristmas #CaringDuringTheFestiveHoliday
