Having real conversations with voters out in boroughs across London! “I’ll be honest, I don’t really feel politicians… I don’t do the political world… but he made me feel that he means good, he wants change, and he’s willing to be committed. And that spoke volumes to me. I keep telling politicians you’re not connected to the people… and if you’re not connected to the people, then forget it. One more time: Brian For Mayor!” Londoners want to hear an independent voice in politics. Not another out of touch ex lawyer turned career politician. They want to hear from someone with fresh ideas. Someone who believes that this city should be an incredible place to live, work and bring our children up. Someone who thinks we all deserve better. As your next Mayor, I plan on abolishing the ULEZ to help everyone across the city with the escalating cost of living. I plan on making London safe again, by putting 10,000 new officers on our streets and opening every police station that the current mayor has closed. I plan on defending our right to free speech, to peaceful protest, and for our right to live in a censorship free world. On May 2nd, vote Brian for Mayor and together, let’s transform London. #brianformayor #london #mol #mayoroflondon #election2024

This is a woke-up call. Our latest survey, conducted in conjunction with Mortar Research, suggests that more than two-fifths of Londoners, and half of over-65s, say the city is too woke. With May’s elections getting ever closer, wokeness weighs heavily on the citizens of our nation’s capital, with more than a third specifically believing that the incumbent Mayor Sadiq Khan is too woke. While out on the streets across our capital’s boroughs, Londoners tell me they are genuinely concerned with the impact of wokeism, particularly its impact on freedom of expression. I have more than a little sympathy with that view, particularly having been summarily and unfairly deplatformed myself by YouTube last year. And it’s why protecting freedom of expression is one of my key manifesto pledges in this year’s mayoral race. Whichever side of the argument you are on, it is important to recognise that this is a very real and important topic, and one which is not simply confined to social media and the opinion columns of our media. Voters should challenge candidates to clarify their position on freedom of speech and the impact of wokeness on our society. By the time we notice a creeping curtailment of our basic civil liberties, it is too late… the censorship has already happened. The reality is this: we should all be aware of big tech and big politics taking away our hard-earned liberties in a way that inevitably increases their authority and power at the expense of the rest of us. Are you voting tomorrow for the next Mayor of London? With less than 24 hours before elections I have one question: Have you had enough of our current mainstream politicians? Enough of their knife crime? Enough of their unfair taxes like the ULEZ? Enough of the current mayor’s broken housing promises? Enough of Susan Hall’s campaign dirty tricks? Enough of the same ideas being recycled with no real solutions to the issues our city is facing? I believe that the voters of our once great city deserve better representation, better ideas and, frankly, better transparency. It’s why I couldn’t sit idly by and watch the place I call home be destroyed by ex-lawyers, career politicians and the vested interests of the elite. I believe that my policies will transform London; scrapping the scam taxes, reopening our police stations, fixing TfL and addressing the crisis around affordable homes… making our city a desirable place to live and work once again. Tomorrow, it’s time to vote for me, Brian Rose, and the London Real Party… next stop, City Hall! And remember, May 2nd elections in the UK require Londoners to bring photo ID with them in order to vote: don’t let them stop you from participating in the democratic process! Please share this with your friends, family and wider network… We couldn't do this without your support. #BrianRoseMayorOfLondon #BrianRoseMayor #BrianForMayor #BrianRose #LondonReal #LondonRealParty #GetKhanOut #DameSusan

Today is the day. With polling stations open from 7am until 10pm this evening, today is the day that Londoners get to elect their next Mayor… and vote for the change our nation’s capital so badly needs. I decided to put myself forward as a candidate to be your next Mayor of London because frankly, I could not sit idly by and watch as our current crop of corrupt, woke politicians destroy the city I love. Since announcing my intention to stand, I’ve been overwhelmed by the levels of positivity I’ve experienced both online and on the street, as citizens across Greater London have shown their support for my innovative manifesto. As your next Mayor, I pledge that I will immediately cancel the failed ULEZ experiment, reopen ALL closed police stations, deploy 10,000 new police officers across the city and commission 50,000 new, affordable homes to be built before Christmas. What’s more, my crypto-friendly policies, including giving £100 of the new $LONDON token to every resident of the city, have been created to help usher in a new era of economic prosperity, helping put money in people’s pockets and providing financial education through these challenging times. London needs a different type of leader; not someone from the political classes, another ex-lawyer or PR consultant. London needs a leader who has a new vision for the city, a leader who cares about the citizens and a leader who is prepared to listen. That’s why today, I am asking for your support one more time. Today is the day to vote for me, Brian Rose and the London Real Party and be part of the transformation. Your vote matters! PS. Don’t forget to bring photo ID with you! In this election, for the very first time, voters are required to present identity documents to participate. Make sure you aren’t excluded from what is the most important ballot in a generation! #brianformayor #london #mol #mayoroflondon #election2024 #londonmayor #brianrose #londonrealparty #londonreal #sadiqkhan #notokhan #sadiqout

Local government is a major public funder of the arts and culture in the UK. Yet reductions in councils' spending power and increasing cost and demand pressures on statutory services (especially social care) have piled pressure on local cultural expenditure over recent years. Between 2009-10 and 2022-3, in real terms, local authorities' revenue spending per person on culture and related services decreased by 48% in England, 40% in Wales and 29% in Scotland. It's time to address #TheStateoftheArts. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eYYUGcuy

“Between 2009-10 and 2022-3, in real terms, local authorities' revenue spending per person on culture and related services decreased by 48% in England, 40% in Wales and 29% in Scotland.” … directly contributing to the huge increase in applications to trusts & foundations and in turn the closures and suspensions by trusts that we’re seeing now. Trusts & foundations cannot possibly be expected to fill this gap, nor are they able to – and of course this coincided with the pandemic, when many trusts generously stepped up with increased funding to help arts organisations survive. Cuts of this level without legacy planning lead to at best funding chaos and at worst the closure of vital charities and sector support organisations (most recently the excellent Getting On Board 😢). Hopefully the new government can do better but that takes time and resource that may simply not be available. Destroying the sector that does so much for local communities and economies makes me so angry! More positive thoughts and ideas welcome in the comments… #Funding #ArtsFunding #Arts #Fundraising #Grants #PublicFunding #Charities #TrustsAndFoundations #LocalGovernment ——————————————- I specialise in helping charities and CICs find new and untapped sources of grant funding, and strategic pipelines that work. Democracy is a two-way street. It thrives not just on the rights we enjoy, but on the responsibilities we uphold. Active citizenship forms the bedrock of a robust democracy, embodying the principle that citizen participation extends far beyond the act of voting. This Democracy Day read 'My City My Responsibility', a comprehensive handbook designed to empower citizens to become catalysts for change in their neighbourhoods. This handbook offers practical insights on addressing civic issues, fostering collaboration within citizen collectives, and maximising the potential of collective action. 🌍 A Call for Unity in Service 🌍 Yesterday, I had a candid conversation with a fellow councillor from another part of the county, and I must admit, it was disheartening to hear about the harassment they are facing. It seems that some individuals are more interested in playing party politics than in our shared mission: to serve our communities and create a positive impact. As elected representatives, our primary responsibility is to work collaboratively for the benefit of those we serve, rather than engaging in self-serving agendas. It’s crucial that we remember why we were elected in the first place – to prioritise the needs of our communities over party lines. I urge my colleagues and all to refocus our energies on constructive dialogue and cooperation. Let’s stand together in the pursuit of progress, ensuring that our communities thrive above all else. #CommunityFirst #PublicService #Unity #PoliticsWithPurpose

𝗧𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, Recently, significant attention has been focused on the Metropolitan Police due to two apologies they issued following comments made after an incident at a protest. During this event, an individual Gideon Falter was reportedly asked to leave because he was identifiably "𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵". It is essential to recognize that every citizen has the right to free movement without being hindered by their identity or beliefs. It is the duty of the police to uphold and protect these rights. This period has been challenging for the Metropolitan Police. It is important to acknowledge that individual officers may not solely be at fault. More concerning, perhaps, is the prevailing culture within the organization, which needs thorough examination and rectification. The responsibility for fostering this culture and the overall management of the Metropolitan Police lies with its leadership, specifically Mayor Sadiq Khan. If there are systemic issues such as recruitment shortfalls or cultural inadequacies, it may be necessary for changes at the top to ensure better alignment with the values of justice and equality. The Labour Mayor is the only one of 43 Police and Crime Commissioners to have missed his police recruitment target. Simply put, Mr. Khan is incompetent. 𝗦𝗼, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻. The sense of safety while walking home, enjoying an evening out, or commuting to work in the morning has significantly diminished. This not only affects women's participation in the workforce but also has broader implications for the city's economy. As a Londoner, you have the power to influence change in the upcoming elections. Consider the data and the impact of current policies on your daily life. On 2nd May, you have an opportunity to make a significant decision about the city's leadership. Reflect on these issues and think about the direction you want for your city. #wakeup #fightantisemitism #voting #election
