Reline or replace????? 🤔 Often the answer to this question will depend on the relative experience of the 'trusted expert' you are talking to.... If relining tanks is their thing, then they will push you in that direction. Conversely, if they don't have the expertise to reline a tank, but specialise in tank replacements, then you will hear a narrative from them that tries to convince you to take that route. But if your expert advisor has a limited tool kit available to them, and are therefore presenting you with options that are biased towards only the things they can do (because they want your business), then how do you know if you're getting the best solution? If you’re dealing with a leaking water tank and can’t decide whether to reline or replace it, then speak to the experts here at Titan Mechanical Services – we can do both! We’re proud to have some of the UK’s top specialists in water tank relining and replacement, all under one roof. In the past year alone, we’ve successfully relined or replaced over 250 water tanks across the UK. With unmatched expertise and experience, we’ll work with you to create a tailored solution that fits your operational needs and budget. If you have a project that you would like to discuss, then get in touch: 📞 01704 335800 📧 sales1@titanmechanical.co.uk #watertanks #tankreline #engineering #

■ Sometimes pumps are selected on past experience or gut feel. Sometimes pumps are selected by design engineers who specify pump duty to 3 decimal places, then apply a safety factors to flow, system head, density, and pump speed. ■ Sometimes process parameters change. Sometimes process parameters were not understood to begin with. ■ Sometimes pump suppliers use uncertainty, half truths or even falsehoods to justify oversized pumps ... Whatever the reason, we concur with the findings of the Finnish Maintenance Society - Promaint which highlighted the prevalence of bad pump selection. Do not let poor #pumpselection ruin your process and destroy your profits. Africa Slurry Pump Solutions has a team of expert #slurrypump #applicationengineers that can help to slash your #maintenance #expenses. Internal Cold Bending of Insulated Pipes: Benefits, Applications & Considerations Internal cold bending is a relatively new technique for insulated pipes, offering several advantages over traditional external bending methods. Here's a breakdown of what you need to know: ✔ Advantages: 📌 Preserves Insulation Integrity: Bending the pipe from the inside eliminates any external deformation. This keeps the insulation layer (often foam and PE jacket) intact, ensuring its thermal performance isn't compromised. 📌Protects Additional Components: Leak detection wires and heat tracing cables that might be embedded within the insulation are left unharmed during internal bending. 📌Safer Operation: The bending mechanism works entirely inside the pipe, minimizing risks associated with external moving parts during the process. Space Efficient: Internal bending machines are often portable and can be used on-site, making them suitable for tight spaces. ✔The Process: While the specifics may vary depending on the machine, the general concept involves inserting a bending device into the pipe. This device applies controlled pressure at strategic points to achieve the desired bend without damaging the pipe or insulation. ✔Applications: Internal bending is particularly beneficial for pre-insulated pipes used in district heating/cooling systems, oil and gas pipelines, and applications where maintaining insulation efficiency is crucial. ✔Leading the Way: Companies like Maats Pipeline Professionals and Bendforce GmbH are at the forefront of this innovative technology, offering sophisticated internal bending machines for various project needs. ✔Is internal bending right for you? Consider these benefits if you work with pre-insulated pipes: 📌District heating/cooling systems 📌Oil and gas pipelines 📌Any application where maintaining insulation efficiency is critical #HVAC #OilAndGas #Manufacturing #ConstructionManagement #FacilityManagement #Engineering #internalbending #insulatedpipes #pipingtechnology #construction

Breaking Down BHP, Shaft Power, and Electrical Power When dealing with motors/equipment we often come across these terms such as Electrical Power, Shaft power and Brake horsepower (BHP). But there is always some confusion among these terms. Let's try and understand these terms BHP or Brake Horsepower represents the usable mechanical power output of an engine or motor at the crankshaft or output shaft before any losses due to transmission or other auxiliary components. Shaft power is the mechanical power available at the output shaft of an engine or motor after accounting for losses within the engine itself due to friction in bearings, gears, etc. BHP is always greater than or equal to shaft power because some power is lost within the engine due to friction and other internal processes. In well-designed engines, the difference between BHP and shaft power is relatively small. Electrical power is the rate at which electrical energy is transferred. It's the product of voltage and current. The current that we see in Ammeter can be used to calculate the electrical power. Let's take a car engine to illustrate these concepts: BHP: The engine might produce 300 BHP at its crankshaft. This is the power measured before it goes through the transmission and other car systems. Shaft Power: By the time the power reaches the wheels (after losses in the transmission and other components), the usable power might be 250 HP. Electrical Power: If we have an electric car, the electrical power is what is drawn from the battery to run the electric motor. If the motor has an efficiency of 90%, and it draws 278 HP worth of electrical power, it might deliver around 250 HP as shaft power to the wheels. #Process #PlantOperation #OilandGas #Mechanical #Electrical #Emgineering #Chemical

The effectiveness of control loops is heavily dependent on the performance of the control valve. It is widely recognised that industrial control loops often face challenges due to issues with valve actuation. Beck control actuators stand out by addressing the shortcomings of both pneumatic and traditional electric actuators, thereby optimising the efficiency of control systems. Unlike pneumatic actuators, Beck actuators ensure consistent and precise performance regardless of fluctuating process conditions. This reliability is achieved through Beck's innovative design, offering several key performance benefits: - Achieving repeatable positioning down to 0.1% resolution. -Instantaneous starts and stops, will not stick, slip or overshoot the desired position. -No performance degradation over time or with changing loads. -No duty cycle limitations -No torque switches or thermal overloads. The motor can never overheat or burnout. -The durable design is rated for environments ranging from -40 to 85°C. and 100%RH as standard -Easy drop in installation, no special tools, experience or Apps required. -Have no regular maintenance requirements. -3 year warranty as standard. For more information on Beck actuators in the UK, to discuss a requirement or request a demonstration of the units, please contact us at info@iptengineering.com, drop me a message, or visit www.iptengineering.com #petrochemical #petroleumengineering #ethanol #powerplant #powergeneration #wastetoenergy #wastewatertreatment #waterindustry #watertreatment #steelindustry #limestone #lime #burntlime #gypsum #glassindustry #cementindustry #paperindustry #oilgas #biomass #cvl #quarrying #foodprocessing #actuators #processcontrol #valves #butterflyvalves #steel #sugar #animalfeed #water #electricactuators #processimprovement #ccus #linearactuator #hydraulicactuator #pneumaticactuator #efw #pulpandpaper #AMP8 #aluminiumindustry

A lot of the jobs we produce tend to be manufactured out of a range of metals. Copper, aluminium and steel mostly, but this week we completed a job made from wear resistant plastic. Used for parts and components in high-friction contact with metals, these crane pivots will be used for wind turbines across the UK. #UKMFG #engineering #northeast #engineeringsupport #precisionengineering #production

Summary For Pump Fundamentals
"Pumps Fundamentals" This file provides an overview of pumps, defining them as mechanical devices that convert mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. It categorizes pumps into two main types: Positive Displacement Pumps (PDPs) and Dynamic Head Pumps (DHPs). PDPs, which displace fixed amounts of liquid, are further divided into reciprocating (piston and diaphragm) and rotary (gear, lobe, screw, and vane) pumps. DHPs, primarily centrifugal pumps, increase the kinetic energy of the flow. The document details the structure and functioning of various pump types, including their components like impellers and diffusers. It also discusses pump performance characteristics, applications, and the advantages and disadvantages of different pump designs. #pumps #engineering
