🌟 2024 was a year of renewed strategic focus. We launched ''Pathways to Young People's Wellbeing'', our refined Philanthropic Strategy built on four key themes, to advance our work in creating a world that supports young people's wellbeing and upholds their rights. As part of our second focus area, investing in biomedical research for child and adolescent health, we launched the Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering (BIIE), addressing their unique health needs. Our grantmaking in rural America is driven by our desire to increase access to better care, closer to home. For over fifteen years, we've granted over $700 million to organizations and initiatives in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. This summer, our Rural Healthcare Program began making grants in a ninth state, Hawaii, and two U.S. Pacific Territories—American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. With these expansions, we want to redefine rural. Rural America is not just the tightly knit communities of South Dakota who live 200 miles away from state-of-the-art cancer care—it's also the American Samoans who live 2,000 miles away from an MRI machine. Many of the innovative ideas we've funded over the years in the upper Midwest can serve as models for care in urban centers and island nations. By redefining rural, we're applying our decade of experience to new communities of people who need access to better care, closer to home. What a deeply insightful - and fun! - discussion I got to have with Erika Brice, Aifuwa E., Reggie Gordon, and susan shumaker at the Grantmakers In Health 2024 conference. Thanks to all! Read takeaways from Multiplier Advisors! 👇👇 Mikelle Moore #healthequity #impactinvesting
Thank you Grantmakers In Health and all the sponsors of this year's annual conference for such an incredible experience. We were inspired, challenged and heartened by the conversations we had last week. And a special thank you to our colleagues from Cone Health, Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, The Kresge Foundation and The California Endowment for co-facilitating an energizing learning lab about leveraging impact investments to increase racial equity in real, measurable ways. Here are a few of our key takeaways from our Learning Lab on #impactinvesting #racialequity and #healthequity

Our team is honored to be a part of a legacy that inspires and drives change! At UCB, our commitment to making a difference is driven by science with a robust portfolio of treatments. Our talented team of world-class scientists and researchers are presenting 32 posters highlighting the impact and burden of epilepsy and rare syndromes at this year's American Epilepsy Society Meeting. We are inspired by patients, partnering for solutions that extend beyond treatments. Almost 30 years ago, we began our partnership with Canine Assistants, whose incredible work helps enhance the lives of those living with #epilepsy through highly trained seizure response dogs. This year, we continue to reimagine our leadership and how we show up for the communities we serve. First, as Lead Sponsor for DE&I activities at #AES2024, we champion representation and inclusion. Along with advocacy groups like the Epilepsy Foundation, Dravet Syndrome Foundation, and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) Foundation we also are proud to sponsor the powerful production of It’s All Your Fault Tyler Price, using the arts to raise awareness and amplify the voices of those impacted by rare conditions. Excited to see everyone over the next few days at this year’s AES Meeting! #LightUpEpilepsy
