The Red Sea is the hottest, and saltiest sea on earth, but vibrant, healthy coral reefs thrive here. Researchers want to understand what makes these corals so resilient, as it could unlock how to saving threatened reefs around the world. In other regions, climate change is causing abnormally high ocean temperatures and increased acidification, both of which are damaging many large coral reefs. Coral reefs provide refuge and food for the majority of ocean life, so saving them is a top priority in preserving the health of the ocean. Tomorrow is World Ocean Day, and as proud representatives of coastal destinations, we support all action to protect and preserve these precious ecosystems; not only for the wildlife that lives therein, but also for those who enjoy them responsibly. This year sees the launch of a new multi-year action theme, which is 'Catalysing Action for Ocean & Climate' and there are several ways in which you can lend your support. To show our commitment, we'll be working with clients to ensure that every FAM trip we host or facilitate includes at least one element of education or action around the protection and restoration of natural coastal environments. Did you know that coral reefs are home to over 25% of marine life? Yet, they face critical threats. Here are a few ways you can make a difference and help protect these vital ecosystems: Reduce your carbon emissions to combat climate change. Every small effort counts. • Support businesses that prioritize reef-friendly practices. • Adopt a coral and contribute to its restoration and conservation. • Practice safe and responsible diving and snorkeling to avoid damaging corals. Let's be part of the solution, not the problem! Together, we can protect the biodiversity of our oceans. #ProtectCoralReefs #MarineConservation #CareForThePlanet #oceanlove

Such a diverse and utterly important part of our ecological systems , mangrove forests in Pakistan, as well as the rest of the world, are facing serious threats. Mangrove forests in Pakistan began diminishing at an alarming rate due to urbanisation and climate change. However, efforts are being made to restore these ecosystems along the coastlines in Sindh and Balochistan. Hopefully this effort will be continued, and authorities will take this seriously.
#Mangroves are more than just coastal trees—they are #biodiversity hotspots, climate defenders, and community lifelines. They shelter 341+ threatened species, store carbon 10x more effectively than terrestrial forests, and protect 15M+ people from floods annually. Beyond resilience, they fuel livelihoods for over 120M people and enhance ecosystems like coral reefs, doubling fish populations. With natural filtration and medicinal potential, mangroves are the ultimate example of nature-based solutions. Mangroves protect shorelines from erosion, support diverse ecosystems, and capture significant amounts of carbon dioxide. Despite their importance, they face threats like deforestation and climate change, leading to habitat loss and reduced biodiversity. To address these challenges, it's crucial to engage in conservation efforts and sustainable management practices. Let's take action to protect these vital ecosystems for future generations! 🌍🌿 #Mangroves #CoastalProtection #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #SustainableLiving #Conservation #GreenPeace #ClimateChange #RethinkTheWay

🌿🌏 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀! Today, we recognize the invaluable role of mangroves in protecting our coastlines, supporting diverse marine life, and mitigating climate change. Mangroves act as natural barriers against storms, reduce coastal erosion, and provide vital habitats for numerous species. Join us in our commitment to preserve and restore these essential ecosystems. Here's how you can get involved: - Participate in local mangrove growing activities. - Support conservation organizations working to protect mangroves. - Educate others about the importance of mangroves and their ecological benefits. Together, we can ensure a sustainable future for our coastal communities and the planet. #WorldMangroveDay #CCEF #ProtectOurMangroves #SustainableFuture #MarineLife #ClimateAction

For the first time, WWF Global Arctic Programme's new report explores Arctic whales’ migratory behaviour across the entire Arctic Ocean, including: 🐋 Where their blue corridors are in the Arctic Ocean. 📅 When the corridors are being used by the whales. 🚢 And how these whales’ journeys overlaps with ship traffic. Arctic blue corridors are migration superhighways that allow whales, seals, walrus and other marine animals to move between important habitats. Whales need different habitats for important life events, such as feeding, birth and mating. But whales face growing threats on their journeys: 🌡️ Climate change has reduced sea ice thickness and extent, affecting whale migration cues, shelter and access to food. 🚢 Less sea ice has also meant increased shipping activity. Between 2013-2023, a remarkable 37% more ships entered the Arctic. By protecting blue corridors – in the Arctic and beyond – we ensure that whales and other marine animals can reach the habitats they need for those important life events.
