Today on World Children's Day, we celebrate the power of community in shaping brighter futures for children everywhere. At Love Mercy, we’re dedicated to empowering children in northern Uganda by supporting their families with tools, resources, and opportunities to thrive. In northern Uganda, children face challenges like limited access to healthcare, food insecurity, and the daily burden of collecting water. But together, we can overcome these barriers. 🌱 Through our programs, we’re addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality with sustainable solutions. From providing healthcare and clean water to enabling education, every step we take is building brighter futures. Thanks to support from the Reece Foundation, Ikwee School now has a water tank providing clean water to its students and community. As one student shared: "We thank Love Mercy for this rainwater tank. It gives us water for our school day and home." This holiday season, join us in creating lasting change. By giving a gift for her future, you’re providing children with the resources they need to thrive—healthcare, education, clean water, and hope. 🌟 Donate today and make a generational impact in northern Uganda. Together, we can give the gift that keeps on growing. https://bit.ly/3YUeHbp #WorldChildrensDay #AGiftForHerFuture #LoveMercy #MakeADifference

This week's feature for our Even Ground 2024 fall campaign focuses on the work of our partner organisation Thanda, a community-based organisation based in rural KwaZulu-Natal that provides innovative solutions for sustainable development. We share the transformative story of Qiniso Cele, a young early childhood development (ECD) teacher who is redefining the role of male mentors in his community. At Pivot, we are inspired by Thanda’s approach to grassroots development, from providing quality early childhood education to empowering families with sustainable farming practices. Thanda’s unwavering commitment to building resilient, connected communities reflects the profound impact of collective action in shaping a brighter future.
Qiniso Cele, a 21-year-old leader from rural KwaZulu-Natal is the focus of our second video. Qiniso’s journey with our partner organization Thanda started in 2013 when he was just 10 years old. Now, as a dedicated early childhood development (ECD) teacher and skateboard enthusiast, he serves as a role model for the next generation, inspiring children to dream big and reach beyond their circumstances. In a community where over 60% of children grow up without a father figure, Qiniso is making a meaningful impact as one of the few male role models and educators. Thanda transforms the lives of rural children through ECD programs that nurture curiosity, resilience, and growth. With only 40% of South African children having access to this type of programs, Thanda is closing the gap for 882 young learners in 2024, offering education, nutritious meals, and skills for a brighter future. And it doesn’t stop there- Thanda empowers families too, teaching sustainable farming practices that have doubled monthly household incomes and strengthened food security in the community. Qiniso captures it perfectly: “At Thanda, we ensure that we connect with the community, which further allows us to advance the mission for the children to have knowledge, be curious and have brighter futures.” Your support fuels Thanda’s mission to empower children and families with the tools they need to thrive. Every donation to Even Ground helps build a future where learning, resilience, and opportunity are within reach for all. Donate today and be part of a movement that’s changing lives in rural South Africa. https://lnkd.in/ed7PitTz #FallCampaign2024 #Changemakers #YouthLeadership #EvenGround #ThandaECD

🎄 This Christmas season, let's make education more accessible in Kenya! Did you know? Recent data shows that over 43% of Nairobi's population lives below the poverty line, affecting countless children's access to education. In Kenya's most disadvantaged counties, poverty rates reach even higher levels, with some families struggling to afford basic school necessities. The gift of education starts with something as simple as a school uniform. For many children, not having a proper uniform can be the difference between attending school and staying home. 🎁 This holiday season, help us prepare children for the 2025 academic year: - One uniform set can transform a child's educational journey - Your donation directly supports families in need - Make a lasting impact that extends beyond the holiday season 🤝 Together, we can ensure more children start their 2025 academic year with dignity and confidence. Women in VSLAs aren’t just investing in education—they’re leading on climate resilience too. 🌍 The NIRINA VSLA in Madagascar shows how saving together can drive sustainable solutions to climate challenges while ensuring children can go to school, rain or shine. 💡 Savings is powerful. Leadership is transformative. CARE Madagascar CARE International #womenclimateleaders #vslas
It is a long established fact that women who join VSLAs invest in the health and education of their families and children. Statistically, for every $250 we invest in VSLA, 3 children go to school - because VSLA members recognize the connection between education and reducing intergenerational poverty. The NIRINA VSLA in the Manaratsandry commune in Madagascar has also made a connection between climate change and the education of children in their community. In November 2024, this VSLA donated 100,000 Ar to a local primary school, to help maintain the school during the rainy season. This initiative is part of a broader approach to mobilize resources within VSLA to support communities' resilience efforts to climate challenges. Through this action, NIRINA participates in the implementation of concrete and sustainable solutions to face the impacts of climate change, while ensuring that children go to school, come rain or shine. Knowledge is Power. Savings is Powerful! #care; Emily Janoch; Maria L.; Monique Morazain; Ianitra Florencine

Day 4 Challenge: Rebuilding Nomadic Primary School Zawan. It’s Day 4 of our 30-Day Campaign to rebuild Nomadic Primary School, Gura Suga, Zawan, in Plateau State, Nigeria, and the reality of this mission keeps hitting hard. Can you picture children sitting on cracked floors, surrounded by walls that could crumble at any moment, trying to focus on learning? This baffles me as its their daily reality. A reality i feel no child should ever endure. These children dream of becoming doctors, teachers, and leaders, but their dreams are threatened by a school structure that screams neglect. How can they believe in a brighter future when even their learning environment feels like a dead end? We cannot stand by and let this continue. These children are counting on us, not just for a new school building but for hope, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive to break the circle of poverty. We need your help to make this possible. Please: ✅ Repost this message, you never know who might see it and decide to support. ✅ Donate building materials like blocks, cement, wood, nails or zinc. ✅ Contribute funds to help us rebuild. Every little bit goes a long way. Together, we can transform this school into a safe and conducive environment where these children can learn, dream, and build a brighter future. For Enquiries and Support: 📞 +234-803-658-5681 📞 +234-901-527-3236 Let’s give these children something to smile about. Out of Afrika Charity Video "In Kenya, millions of orphaned and disadvantaged children face an uncertain future. Without access to education or skills training, breaking the cycle of poverty seems impossible. But change is happening – and it’s because of Out of Afrika." "Established in 1996, the charity was founded by a group of passionate individuals determined to make a difference. They saw a desperate need: orphaned children and those living in extreme poverty lacked access to education and essential services. With little to no resources, they began their journey to change lives." "Since 1996 we have sponsored and educated over 3,000 children, empowering them with the opportunity to attend school and even reach university. "Our approach is simple: empower communities to help themselves. Through education and vocational skills training, we create sustainable opportunities. And we ensure the future through partnerships, donations, and local involvement, making sure our impact grows and lasts." "But we can’t do it alone. Your support will help us reach even more lives, provide more education, and create lasting change. Join us in transforming lives, fostering self-reliance, and ensuring a brighter future for generations to come." #outofafrika #vocationalskillstraining #endingthecycleofpoverty #wecreatesustainableopportunities

❌ 251 MILLION ❌ That is the number of children and young people worldwide who are out of school. 📍🌍 Worryingly, in sub-Saharan Africa, the number of children not attending school has risen by 12 million since 2015. This troubling trend highlights the need for urgent need for targeted investments in education. Without prioritising funding for education — particularly for the most vulnerable regions, like our partner communities in Kenya and Tanzania — achieving equitable, quality education for all will remain an elusive goal. 🤝 Be part of the change now by: ✔️ Sponsoring a student: sotheycan.org/sponsor ✔️ Getting involved as a business: Email emily@sotheycan.org ✔️ Joining the 2025 1HumanRace: sotheycan.org/1humanrace ✔️ Signing up to 1inaMillion: areyou1inamillion.org ✔️ Making a one-off or regular donation: sotheycan.org/donate Find all of the links in our bio. #educationforall #sotheycan #educationmatters #endchildpoverty #endpoverty
