Darwin Group have started the main construction phase at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital for the new Coast Building. 🏗️ The state-of-the-art ward and catering block will help University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust expand patient capacity while supporting the hospital’s commitment to sustainability. 🏢 The ground-breaking ceremony was held on November 6, where Siobhan Harrington, UHD Chief Executive, said: “The Coast Building will not only increase our capacity to care for patients but also reinforce our commitment to providing a modern, adaptable, and sustainable healthcare environment." 🗣️ The progress on-site since the ceremony has been incredible, with the modules starting to be installed. BHI Awarded General Contractor Role for Wyoming’s Riverton Medical District Hospital Construction BHI has been awarded the contract to serve as General Contractor for the construction of the highly anticipated Riverton Medical District Hospital in Riverton, Wyoming. The new two-story, 71,000-square-foot facility will address critical healthcare needs for more than 22,000 residents in the Riverton region. Construction is set to begin today, December 11, 2024, with completion projected for late 2026. Brandon Wilkins, Vice President at BHI, shared his thoughts on the significance of this project:

Transformative Whitechapel Life Sciences District gains planning permission - NHSPS has partnered with Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London, the Greater London Authority, and Tower Hamlets borough in this life sciences project. - Allies and Morrison and Gibson Thornley have been responsible for the building designs. - The buildings are expected to reach completion by 2028. NHS Property Services Ltd is excited to announce that we have received a resolution to grant from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for the Whitechapel Road Life Sciences project. The project will revitalise a series of outdated buildings and empty sites in the area near the Royal London Hospital into a thriving life sciences district. The development will include five new and repurposed buildings, ranging from three to 13 stories. Allies and Morrison have designed three of these buildings, with Gibson Thornley responsible for the remaining two. Supported by Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London, the Greater London Authority, and the borough, this project will provide lab-enabled commercial workspaces, educational facilities, and new public spaces. https://lnkd.in/eqs-fDH6

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝘂𝗯 After a very long road (and many lock down consultations) resolution to grant planning permission for The Whitechapel Road Life Sciences Cluster, which involves developing a world-class masterplan for 80,977m² GIA of lab and office space along with major public realm improvements was made last week. The proposals will transform a series of outdated buildings and vacant sites around the Royal London Hospital, acting as a catalyst to create a thriving life sciences cluster. This development will pave the way for neighbouring commercial partners to bring forward further projects, delivering a range of economic, health, and social benefits for Tower Hamlets. Yesterday, NHP Executive Commercial Director, Richard Lennard was delighted to be invited to present and join the panel discussion at the Transforming Infrastructure Live event in London.   Rick spoke about the New Hospital Programme (NHP) vision, 'to transform the way we deliver healthcare infrastructure for the NHS'. It was highlighted that to achieve its vision, it is crucial that the NHP is delivered in partnership with industry, using modern construction practises, and delivered sustainably.     The programme's success is built on Hospital 2.0 - an integrated systems approach to provide optimised, standardised and repeatable solutions for scheme development, design, construction and operation. This is being developed in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders - from clinicians and patient partners, to industry and NHS colleagues, to ensure best practise is embedded into both the system, and any industrialised solutions delivered. I fear this is a classic case of confirmation bias, defending a decision made without proper consideration of the options. It is noteworthy from CEO Alice Webster’s defence of the decision (https://lnkd.in/ej9yQRb2) that consideration of alternative sites only took place after significant investment had been made in the Endoscopy unit a year before. Is this a question of the tail wagging the dog? Why is it so impossible to build a new hospital on a greenfield site in six years? Can planning not be expedited if the alternative site is the best site? Don’t let the bureaucrats get in the way of the right solution! https://lnkd.in/ec6ryTsF
