Challenges and Innovations: Alam articulates the challenges faced during his projects, especially in translating scientific and technological advancements into practical applications that local farmers can use. He stresses the importance of digital interventions and the use of reliable, science-based data to inform farming practices. He also highlights the introduction of parametric insurance in Pakistan, a novel approach that provides instant payments to farmers based on specific weather parameters, bypassing traditional insurance hurdles. The 'InFarmer' platform is a digital solution designed to support farmers by offering advice on optimal farming practices based on real-time data. Future of Agritech and Sustainability: Looking towards the future, Alam discusses the potential of Agritech to revolutionize farming practices. He envisions a scenario where technology not only supports agricultural productivity but also ensures sustainability and resilience against climate challenges. He expresses optimism about integrating more farmers into the digital Agritech ecosystem, ensuring they receive tangible benefits that improve their yield, efficiency, and financial stability. To help companies face these challenges, we have invited local practicing lawyer Glenn Wijaya (王俊雄) to share with us insights on Indonesian labor laws, personal data protection laws, and regulations for agricultural technologies such as drones during our event. Here is an overview of Indonesian regulations: 🌏 Labor Law Indonesian labor law stipulates detailed requirements for foreign-invested enterprises, including wage standards, human resources benefits, and two main types of employment: direct hiring and outsourcing. 🚁 Drone Regulations In the agricultural sector, Indonesia has specific regulations for the use of drones, including pilot registration and operational requirements. 🔒 Personal Data Protection Law With the progress of digitalization, Indonesia has strict regulations on personal data protection. Companies must comply with the requirements for Electronic System Providers (ESP), which are classified into public and private types. Additionally, Indonesia has relatively strict restrictions on AI policies.
