Luft Product Design Turns One! 🎉 This Sunday, Luft Product Design celebrates one year of trading – a milestone we're incredibly proud to reach. It’s been a year full of learning, growth, and exciting opportunities. Key Moments from Our First Year: - Renovating and moving into a new workshop in Sheffield city centre, giving us a dedicated space to design, make, and experiment. - Expanding our client base, working with over 10 new clients across a variety of industries. - Designing and manufacturing a range of underwater hockey equipment completely in-house. - Expanding our manufacturing capabilities with the support of Business Sheffield funding. Looking Ahead to Year Two: - Continuing to work from our studio in Sheffield city centre. - Partnering with a new mentor through Sheffield Digital to further develop the business. - Building brand awareness and growing Luft’s social media presence. - Launching a new website that showcases our streamlined focus on sporting goods design and prototyping services. Growing a start-up business has been an incredible learning experience. Over the past year, we've gained confidence in our ability to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship and built a supportive network of like-minded individuals. None of these achievements would have been possible without the trust and collaboration of our clients and the support of those around us. As we celebrate this milestone, we want to extend our thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Here’s to another year of designing, making, and growing!

What makes Startup Production different? - Our Unique Approach I have never followed the crowd when it came to the way we began each product, worked with our clients, the way we billed for our services, the way we managed third-party products, the process we use to ensure the project is completed on time and to the client's satisfaction. We are different, because we never imitated or copied our competitors. Every process I put into place is because I asked myself, "How would I want this to be done if I was the customer?" - Using that Golden Rule of Business, we have survived and thrived for nearly 30 years. Our creativity is seen in our designs (websites, graphic, print ads, logos), but our creativity in our process is felt by our customers in the way we work together, the way we communicate, and the way we provide cost-savings. I loved designing this product! - We could integrate sustainable design solutions from the outset. My last post introduced you to Le Shuffler- a card shuffling and dealing device, invented by our entrepreneurial client and now friend, Francois Steiner. Francois asked me to do the industrial design and I really enjoyed exploring the user interaction; the flow of the cards through the machine and how we can make the product desirable and stand out even when not in use and it sits on display. We explored several different forms and user flows, and our target customers chose this execution from our early concept sketches as it it had that "Wow! factor." We have continued to work with Francois on taking the design into manufacture and reduced product cost as well as significantly reducing the tooling cost. Francois was very receptive to us designing the product to have as minimal negative impact on people and planet as possible and engaged with our design model “The Design Compass” to develop the product. The final design is heavily influenced by these social and environmental design considerations. We did this by: - Focusing on keeping the product in use for as long as possible, by allowing a user to be able to repair or replace any part of the product at home. - Minimising material use and variety. The majority of the material selection is metal – mild and stainless steel, two types of plastic, wood and electronics. - Making the product simple to strip down for easy recycling. All materials excluding the electronics can be recycled currently. We are working with a company to help with designing the electronics to be recyclable. - Manufacturing and production has been designed around a French manufacturing partner, reducing logistical carbon emissions. The product has done really well so far on Kickstarter and has been selected as one of their “Products We Love”. https://lnkd.in/eSdPf7xA If you or anyone you know would love such a desirable product, please do visit the page to learn more and share the link to support Francois and give him the success he deserves. And if you would like to learn more about our design process and how it can help create commercially viable with as minimal impact to people and planet as possible do reach out to me. thank you #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #ProductDesign #Kickstarter #Mentorship #StartUp #CardGames #IndustrialDesign

Over the years I helped startups find their voice, heritage brands discover what’s new, and all of them bring their products to life. While I get asked the same questions, the answers always shift. Every brand, every location, every market shapes those answers into something unique. It’s not just, “How do we make our brand stand out?” It’s, “How do we make our brand matter?” They ask, “What should we prioritize in design?” But what they mean is, “What’s worth creating at all?” Ultimately, we’re all working through the same lingering questions, but we’re seeking something beyond tactics. We’re asking how we build, how we connect, how we make things real. 👉 How do we create a brand that stands out in a world that’s too loud? 👉 Where do we start with a product when the possibilities are endless? 👉 How do we build something that can adapt but stay true? 👉 And what role does design really play in shaping products people love? These are the questions that linger. They’re the ones that don’t leave you alone because they’re about making things that matter. And if these feel like questions you’re wrestling with, it might be time to talk. After all, Steve Jobs said, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” https://lnkd.in/ggYUbmJU #DesignThinking #BrandBuilding #ProductStrategy #WYEImpact #MakingThingsMatter

At Would You Even, we’ve helped startups find their voice, guided heritage brands in discovering what’s next, and brought countless products to life. Along the way, we’ve heard the same questions from different voices, yet the answers always evolve. Each brand, location, and market reshapes those questions into something distinct. It’s no longer just, “How do we make our brand stand out?” It’s, “How do we make our brand matter?” They ask, “What should we prioritize in design?” But what they’re really asking is, “What’s worth creating at all?” Ultimately, we’re all exploring these questions, but we’re seeking something deeper than tactics. We’re diving into how to build, how to connect, and how to make things real. 👉 How do we create a brand that stands out in a world that’s too loud? 👉 Where do we start with a product when the possibilities are endless? 👉 How do we build something that can adapt yet stay true? 👉 And what role does design play in shaping products people love? These are the questions that linger, the ones that don’t let go—because they’re about making things that matter. If these questions resonate with you, maybe it’s time we talk. After all, as Steve Jobs once said, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” https://lnkd.in/ggYUbmJU #DesignThinking #BrandBuilding #ProductStrategy #WYEImpact #MakingThingsMatter

If you build it, they will not come. But if you DESIGN it, they will (who am I to question Dylan Field??) Good design is great marketing. Delightful experience gets discussed. Craftsmanship attracts customers. This is what we do at Turbo: creating products and experiences that will be talked about during other companies' design meetings. Stop driving your startup in pedestrian mode. Get into Turbo mode.
