👀𝗗𝗮𝗗𝗶 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 #𝟭 – 𝗨𝗻𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀🍔
On September 5th, 2024, I embarked on a wild mission: collecting over 𝟭,𝟯𝟬𝟬 data points from 𝟭𝟬𝟱 McDonald's Singapore outlets across #Singapore (or #macs, as we fondly call it). My occasional indulgence in a #macs meal—bringing temporary comfort, but also regret to the stomach—always gets me curious about their pricing. This led me to dive deeper into #capitalism; I'll gradually share my insights and primary motivations.
In this first installment, here’s a glimpse into 𝘢 𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦 sandwich prices for staple #macs items. Prices vary by location; if you weren’t aware—𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘰 💁♂️. Here’s a look at the highlights:
• 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝘈 𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦 prices can fluctuate up to 15%, depending on the outlet. Cheapest outlets? Schools: Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic. Thanks, #macs, for keeping our future generations fed affordably!
• 𝗔𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁: There is one special outlet that is by far the most pricy. And it is not at #ChangiAirport, but its Lido at Shaw, #Orchard. If you want to feel extra #atas, do enjoy your meal there at a 5% premium.
• 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Outlets fall into three categories—slightly cheaper, slightly pricier, and in-between. Cheaper options are often close to pricier ones, like #JurongPark vs. #JurongPoint.
• 𝗠𝗸𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: No matter where you go, the price for our beloved MkSpicy stays the same—phew!
• 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗸 𝗢𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆: At premium outlets, all prices increase, except for one item—Big Mak, which becomes cheaper 🤨. Any ideas why? Comment.
• 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆: Fried chicken isn’t sold at any gas station #macs outlet. Why?
• 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗲𝘄: Unsurprisingly, central outlets are pricier; East and West outlets are mostly standard-priced with some deviations. BUT, if you live in the North, you’re blessed—plenty of cheaper outlets, absolutely no pricier ones. Unless..
• 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺: ...you are dining in a park. #BishanPark and #AngMoKioPark are the only two more expensive outlets in the North—nature’s tax?
Stay tuned for more insights. What’s your go-to macs item when you’re craving happiness? Share your thoughts!
