Last week, Salil Sainis, former MSCA fellow and Researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Isabel Dellacasa Lindberg, Swedish National Contact Point (NCP) Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (#MSCA), and Erik Litborn, National Contact Point (NCP) Horizon Europe (HEU) joined us for a conversation about MSCA and #ERC opportunities in Sweden and how to best prepare your application. During our conversation, our guests shared the following resources and advise: • Check out the EURAXESS Sweden portal for open MSCA positions at Swedish universities (https://lnkd.in/e-x6r9tu). • Once you’ve identified an interesting opportunity, contact the Grants Office / Research Services at the university to ensure you have all the information needed to develop your application. • Networking is key to success when looking for research opportunities - start early and network broadly. • MSCA grantees also have access to additional networking and learning opportunities during the fellowship period to build their professional profile. • Use your network when you’re looking for a job - the circle of researchers in Sweden, or within a particular field, is usually quite small and people are likely to be aware of opportunities within their own area of research. • The European Research Council (ERC)’s grant scheme is also a great resource for Principal Investigators and offers grants at various career levels (https://lnkd.in/deBxzyr4). • ERC projects also often hire additional researchers during the funding period, so keep an eye out for what projects have received funding and opportunities to work with those projects. • To learn more about the Swedish research funding landscape, check out EURAXESS Sweden’s overview on their website (https://lnkd.in/e9QPMwVT). If you would like to learn more about MSCA opportunities in Sweden, STARS’ webinar from last year is available at https://lnkd.in/ef5XPq_e.

📢 YERUN, in collaboration with key #research and #innovation organisations across #Europe, has joined forces to launch a critical joint statement advocating for increased recognition and support for the #MSCA Actions. Despite its remarkable achievements, the MSCA programme is at risk of being underfunded. In our joint statement, we emphasise the crucial role MSCA plays in advancing Europe’s innovation capacity and talent development. To unlock the full potential of MSCA, we urge the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union to recognise the MSCA's invaluable contributions by increasing its budget, while maintaining its purely bottom-up research character. 👀 Read the full statement 👇 https://lnkd.in/eFtdM5UM Organisation endorsing this statement: Aurora Universities - CESAER - Coimbra Group -EPSO - EuroTech Universities Alliance - EU-LIFE - European University Association - The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities - Initiative for Science in Europe - Marie Curie Alumni Association - Science Europe - League of European Research Universities (LERU)

The Australian Council of Deans of Science (ACDS) submission to the Australian Research Council's policy review of the national competitive grant program (NCGP) makes important points: ✅ Grant Program Structure: we stress maintaining the distinction of Discovery and Linkage programs to support both basic and translational research. ✅ Funding and Impact Assessment: to enhance NCGP effectiveness, we suggest reviewing selection criteria to ensure they support funding scheme objectives more effectively and foster high-calibre research benefiting Australia. ✅ Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration: we advocate for a new scheme to promote interdisciplinary research and improved coordination, and revising eligibility rules to let industry organisations lead key applications ✅ Indigenous Research and Researchers: the ACDS proposes setting annual targets for grants and investment in indigenous research to support and recognise indigenous researchers' contributions. ✅ International Collaborations: we strongly encourage the ARC to enhance international collaborations by establishing joint funding initiatives and participating in multilateral programs, leveraging international funding for greater overall investment and impact.
