How a 112-Year-Old Family Business Stays Fashionable
In today's rapidly changing business environment, maintaining relevance and success over an extended period is no small feat. Yet, our family business has thrived for 112 years, continuously adapting to shifts in industry trends and consumer preferences. Here’s a glimpse into how we've stayed fashionable and forward-thinking through the decades.
Innovation at the Core: Innovation isn’t just about technology; it’s about mindset. From the introduction of new product lines to the adoption of sustainable practices, we've always looked ahead to stay aligned with market demands and environmental considerations.
Timeless Values, Modern Approaches: While we hold fast to the core values instilled by our founders, we're not shy about embracing modern marketing strategies and digital transformation. This blend of old and new ensures a timeless appeal that resonates with both longstanding and new customers.
Community and Customer Focus: Engaging with our community has been pivotal. We listen to our customers, respond to their needs, and adapt our offerings accordingly. This customer-centric approach has not only fostered loyalty but has also driven us to innovate continually.
Family Spirit: Being a family-run business adds a personal touch to our operations. We treat employees and customers like family, which fosters a strong internal culture and leads to better customer service.
These principles have guided us through 112 years of business, and with each passing year, we continue to learn, evolve, and fashion our future.
Let's discuss how traditional businesses can navigate modern challenges. Feel free to share your thoughts!

Relying on old tech is like rocking last year's skinny jeans - a major style no-no. 🙅♂️
With technology advancing rapidly, what's hot now might be totally cringey later. 🚀
Avoid getting stuck in a tech time warp with your business! ⏰
Upgrade your equipment and keep up with the trends (or at least avoid looking painfully outdated). 💻

In the world of tech, where algorithms and automation are kings, there’s a human element that remains irreplaceable – the CREATIVITY, the EXPERIENCE, the EXPRESSION!
Never one to shy away from the unknown dark depths or the blinding spot light, I’ve always addressed problems head on. Every situation is unique. Most times the solution is simple, but simple doesn’t always equate to easy. Simple is Hard!
My life’s journey through the traps and trenches, has prepared me for these massive decisions. Leading businesses with precision, the tech is just a small incision. It’s the people and relationships when opened up, gives this life its Vision…
Fun fact: I don’t always wear awesome pants, but when do… Ok, well, I do always wear awesome pants.. NVM

The Creators: A reflection on innovation, design, and collaboration
Last week, on December 11th, I had the pleasure of attending The Creators, hosted by Fashion Group International, Inc., at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City—an event that celebrated the intersection of fashion, art, design, and culture.
👁️🗨️ Hearing icons like Nicole Miller and Candace Bushnell share their stories and insights was a powerful reminder of how creativity continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Nicole Miller, in particular, made a point that resonates deeply with all of us working in the creative space:
“We always say everything’s been done, but there’s always a new way to do things.”
This perspective captures the essence of innovation: the ability to reimagine, reinvent, and find fresh approaches even when it seems like every idea has already been explored.
🟡🔵 At FASHINNOVATION, we see this spirit come to life every day. By connecting global innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, we aim to cultivate these “new ways”—whether through technology, sustainability, or creativity. Events like The Creators, brilliantly organized by Fashion Group International, serve as reminders of the importance of conversation, collaboration, and open-mindedness in driving industries like fashion forward.
Fashion Group International has long been a leader in fostering connections and driving thought leadership within the fashion industry, and The Creators is yet another example of their dedication to amplifying meaningful voices and conversations.
As we close out 2024 and look ahead to 2025, I’m inspired to carry these insights forward: to think differently, challenge assumptions, and create meaningful connections. Because true innovation doesn’t come from following the path—it comes from creating a new one.
Here’s to the thinkers, creators, and dreamers—let’s keep building a better future together.

Let me explain with a quick example ! Shortening a product's lifespan to save money and encourage faster buy-back.
We now know with certainty that while this practice may lead to money-making in the short term, it has a high negative impact in the long term (on the environment and the brand).
Might sound obvious, with everything that happened around the #programmed#obsolescence a decade ago. Yet, look at the #clothing industry and the #fastfashion brands... Different name, same phenomenon, with even more serious social consequences !
It's better to decide to :
👉 guarantee a highly reliable design
👉 make it easier to repair products
👉 develop recyclable parts
👉 set up a refurbishment programme to extend the initial lifespan
Right decisions often are behind the long term value-making, not the short-term money making.
