🎉Congratulations to Anna Villarica (FASoS), Sanne Schreurs (FHML) and Jairaj Gopalakrishnan (FASoS) for winning an EDLAB Education Research Grant for their research proposal "Creative and AI-proof assessments/education design"! 👉🏻Which issue will the project tackle? In today’s education landscape, AI is unavoidable, raising concerns about the authenticity of written work and the potential impact on creativity and critical thinking. Additionally, Boards of Examinors are calling for educational redesigns to address AI-related issues. While some educators are unsure where to begin, others have already introduced innovative, AI-proof teaching methods. What will the project do? This project aims to gather best practice case studies and practical advice into a single toolkit. The toolkit will focus on improving checks and balances, designing creative AI-proof assessments, and fostering AI-inclusive education. Why is this important? The open-access toolkit, based on research and co-creation sessions with staff, will provide valuable resources to help educators navigate AI in education and support effective teaching strategies. #education #teaching #learning #EDLAB

The game-changer in faculty training: simulated learning. Today, we were on-site with the faculty of the San Juan Bautista School of Medicine This marked Part 2 of our Curriculum Mapping training. The first session, we covered the theory and the "why" behind mapping. Today, we took a hands-on approach in a Medtrics. Here, faculty members created Sessions and mapped them manually and using AI. Lessons I've learned from training academic faculty over the years: 1. Clarity is Key: To engage and train faculty, we must first build clear processes and set expectations. It's not just about introducing a tool; it's about communicating 'why' it's necessary and 'how' it can be utilized effectively. 2. Practice Makes Perfect: Theoretical knowledge is beneficial, but hands-on experience in a simulated training environment is the game-changer. This approach enables faculty to create and map sample sessions themselves, thereby consolidating their understanding. 3. Engagement is Essential: The ultimate goal is not just to train but to engage faculty in the curriculum mapping process. It's about fostering a learning environment that inspires curiosity, encourages questions, and promotes active participation. There is nothing better than in-person collaboration for this. By involving faculty in the curriculum mapping process the school will build a strong academic foundation. Philip Ivory Rio Weber #MedEd # #CurriculumMapping #TechnologyInMedicine #FacultyDevelopment

Big news for AI educators, students, and educational institutions! Two separate AI education bills have been approved by the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to be considered by the full House. See below for some details.
The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology just passed two K-12 education-related bipartisan bills to ensure U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence (AI). Thank you, Chairman Frank Lucas and Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren. They now move on to be considered by the full House of Representatives. H.R. 9211, the LIFT AI Act, improves educational efforts related to artificial intelligence literacy at the K-12 level. National Science Foundation (NSF) grants can be provided to higher ed institutions and non-profits to support research activities to develop curriculum and professional development for AI literacy. This bill is led by Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) and Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01). H.R. 9402, the NSF AI Education Act of 2024, supports education and professional development related to artificial intelligence. It offers funds to higher ed students who might teach about AI, fellowships for school teachers, and establishes centers of excellence to support school systems implementing AI in education. This bill is led by Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) and Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06). While legislators continue to debate AI technical regulations, I'm glad to see common sense foundational policies that support AI literacy move forward. Congress wants to #TeachAI

That concludes the final day of our November principals’ conference in Leeds- we had a packed agenda to get through, with topics ranging from the extended curriculum through to the power and impact of AI on our schools. Here's a recap: • Johanna Klinsky, Director of Strategic Improvement, Deborah McCarthy, Head of Curriculum, and Ian Taylor, Associate Director of 490, kick off the day with a session on enabling pupil success through the extended curriculum. They explain how the wider body of knowledge, skills and experiences that pupils gain beyond formal learning can impact future wellbeing and life chances, and how we can build on our existing extended curriculum provision for our school communities. • Next up, James Browning, Chief Operating Officer at Lift Schools, leads a session on AI, encouraging us to think about how it could transform and enhance our network. He shares our guiding principles for AI as a network, focusing on how it can personalise learning experiences and reduce teacher workload but reaffirms how it will always take a teacher and human connection to teach. The role of AI, James emphasises, is to support and enhance. • Alison Eynon presents on sense making, allowing our school leaders to reflect on the insights they’ve taken in over the last two days. She encourages us to identify what has challenged our usual thinking, and prompted new opportunities for deeper and more productive collaboration in the future. • Rebecca Boomer-Clark offers closing remarks. School leaders described how they had found the conference ‘thought provoking’ and collaborative, leaving with a renewed energy for the future. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made it happen. #EducationChangesLives #TalentDrivesPerformance

AI & Holistic Education: Shaping Global Citizens of Tomorrow In today's fast-paced world, it's crucial for education to evolve beyond traditional methods. Holistic education, which nurtures a child's mind, body, and spirit, is the foundation for developing global citizens. It helps children understand their family, relationships, society, and co-existence with nature, creating compassionate and connected individuals. But how do we ensure personalized attention for every child when it's practically impossible for teachers to focus on each student individually? Enter IOAC – an AI-powered platform transforming education. IOAC learns each child's unique learning patterns, interests, and skills, providing detailed insights to teachers, empowering them to engage more deeply. From observing every activity to creating personalized digital portfolios, IOAC helps teachers focus on what matters most – the child’s development. In a world that's constantly changing, following outdated teaching methods no longer serves our children's future. It's time for schools to embrace advanced, AI-enhanced IOAC platform, and provide kids with the skills they need to thrive as global citizens. Let’s integrate AI in education today for a better tomorrow! #HolisticEducation #AIInEducation #GlobalCitizens #EdTech #IOAC #InnovationInEducation #FutureOfLearning #AIEnhancedTeaching #PersonalizedLearning
