Last week week we made history with the largest tree planting event in Cincy in one day! Special thanks to Cincinnati Parks, Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Groundwork Ohio River Valley for helping us add 200+ trees in Avondale! And, thanks to Upstream 360 for capturing the event.

A commendable step in social impact protection for a U.S. pipeline. "Tallgrass is the first pipeline company to proactively engage with local communities to ensure benefits for landowners and successfully negotiate and execute such a written agreement."
Please see this article from the World Resources Institute. Tallgrass is the team i am now part of and i am already proud of what they have done on this project (though i claim no credit!!) https://lnkd.in/g-Da-xDg

A week now ended in Townsville representing Tasmanian beekeepers at the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council. Great team of leaders wanting to developed the Honey Bee Industry well into the future. Then immersed into operational beekeeping with the Queensland Beekeepers Association 120th conference. Varroa and honey fraud the driving conversations. Beekeeping as a profession is a constant improvement environment, it’s unique because you have life long established professionals and new starters in the same room with researchers and not one identifies as having full knowledge with nothing to learn. Challenges ahead with varroa, honey sales and pollination supply. If your business relies on pollination start a conversation with your beekeeper.

Just released from American Forests: a special short documentary called "Year of the Cone." It follows our crew working in Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, and their work to survey and monitor cone development. Did You Know: There's a narrow 3-4 week window in which cones are ready to harvest, and thanks to their efforts, we currently have a specialized climbing crew down there that is collecting the thousands of cones that will one day become forests that cover former severe burn scars! With your support, AF is working with partners on the ground to build up the national supply of seed: 🌱 We are bringing land managers, seed orchards, and contractors together to study seed shortages and coordinate to build networks of partners dedicated to growing seed supplies. 🌱 We are managing wild seed collection on forest landscapes across the nation. 🌱 We are growing and training an entirely new workforce of seed and cone collectors. 🌱 In urban areas, we are enlisting the help of our local communities to help build seed supplies. 🌱 We are also investing in innovative solutions to scale up our seed orchards – which can provide a stable source of seed for decades. #SeedSeptember

Brown Top millet is a fast growing warm season annual millet that can be harvested in under 2 months to produce heavy yields in optimal weather. With it being a shorter season maturity plant it can also reseed itself in around 60 days. That being said, Brown Top millet works great in a mix as well, filling in gaps where animals have grazed by dropping its seeds. It can be used as hay as well as in grazing situations. https://zurl.co/1iUW
