🌠 Are we living on borrowed time? As we strive for progress and innovation, have we considered the true cost of our actions on Earth? In this eye-opening video, we explore the concept of planetary boundaries—the critical thresholds we must respect to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. What Are Planetary Boundaries? Planetary boundaries are limits we should not cross if we want to keep our planet healthy. They cover important things like climate change, loss of animals and plants, and water use. Why Do They Matter? These boundaries are crucial for our survival. If we go beyond them, we risk serious problems for our environment, our health, and future generations. Understanding these limits can help us make better choices for a sustainable life. Watch the Video to Learn More About: The nine boundaries we should know How they connect with each other Simple steps we can take to protect our planet Join the Conversation! What do you think we can do to respect these boundaries? Share your thoughts in the comments! Let’s support each other in taking care of our Earth.

We're living in the Anthropocene and human actions are pushing Earth beyond its limits. Prof. Dr. Johan Rockström's message on planetary boundaries is a stark reminder of the environmental challenges we face. We're nearing tipping points for several planetary boundaries, environmental limits critical for a stable Earth. Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss, and Land System Change are just a few examples that we're already beginning to cross. Rising global temperatures are disrupting weather patterns, species are disappearing at an alarming rate, and deforestation and unsustainable land-use practices are degrading ecosystems. The good news? We can still act. The Paris Agreement and COP 15 agreements offer frameworks for a sustainable future. Rockström's ideas are a wake-up call for all of us. The tipping points aren't reversible once we cross them. It's all system dynamics that we humans still have the ability to alter but the window is closing fast. #climatechange #sustainability #environment #anthropocene #planetaryboundaries https://lnkd.in/eRQC_WKq

Last week Katherine Richardson, Johan Rockström and colleagues published a stock take of applications, and societal and policy impacts of the Planetary Boundaries. The original publication and subsequent updates are three of ten most cited scientific papers in global policy documents! The growing mainstream adoption of the PBs underscores their critical relevance to businesses. The team at the Planetary Accounting Network’s were pleased to see our approach recognized, with Planetary Accounting cited as the example of a mechanism for equitably sharing global ecological resources. To support #COP29 discussions, we've distilled this latest article into a concise 5-minute summary—a quick read to stay informed and ahead of the curve. #PlanetaryBoundaries #Sustainability #ClimateAction #COP29 #BusinessStrategy #GlobalPolicy #PlanetaryAccounting

We have already overstepped 6 out of 9 planetary boundaries It´s not just CO2 and climate change- many other vital earth systems are at stake The good news: We are still good at Stratospheric Ozone Depletion The bad news: but we screwed all the rest Tx to Stockholm Resilience Centre and PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research who put together all these facts https://lnkd.in/dWnCCDjq If you´d like to learn more about it: https://lnkd.in/dxpfK2k7 Reference: Katherine Richardson et al., Earth beyond six of nine planetary boundaries.
