We have over 250 incredible volunteers and this year they gave an astonishing 40,000 hours of their time! From SWAN volunteers who support patients at the end of life to Pets As Therapy dogs and their owners, and our League of Friends volunteers, they can be found across the Trust making a difference to people's lives every day. Members of our Executive team - and our fabulous Voluntary Services team - joined them for Christmas lunch at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals to say thank you and to present long service awards, including to two people who have volunteered for 25 years, and three who have completed 30 years of service! Anne-Marie Stevens-Swain, Voluntary Services Manager, said: “I have the pleasure of leading our wonderful team of volunteers, and it’s important we recognise the outstanding contribution they make...Our volunteers demonstrate a real commitment to our organisation, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the new year.” Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for everything you have done to support us this year! 💙

Thanks so much Candace for this valuable, practical and insightful session on Goverance!
If you work at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, you know that volunteering in our communities is something that is encouraged and supported. While back in Saskatoon for the holidays, I facilitated a workshop where we shared our experiences and best practices in governance (which is way more fun than it sounds!).What a great crew - these are board and executive leaders from United Way Saskatoon and Area agencies. Thank you all for the opportunity and I left inspired by your leadership and commitment to the health and well-being of our communities.

Have you ever seen a video online that made you tear up, hit like, and desperately want to be part of the cause it championed? This was it for me. This video perfectly demonstrates the power of influencer marketing for good. Influencer marketing isn't new, and many organizations have been leveraging this strategy, but there are still areas that need refining. Imagine watching an influencer talk about a cause they're clearly not passionate about—it would leave you with a weird feeling, right? This is why storytelling is crucial in influencer marketing. The most important factor is ensuring that the influencers involved genuinely care about the cause. Authenticity is key. Influencers should have a history of supporting the cause or at least be vocally passionate about it. When an influencer has a genuine connection to the cause, their content feels more believable and relatable. Take Enioluwa, for example. This isn't his first time getting involved in social good, and watching him bring others on board is seriously inspiring. What he has done is a perfect example of how organizations can combine powerful storytelling with the right influencers to create campaigns that make a real impact on the cause itself. When it comes to social impact, the spotlight should be less on the organization and more on the cause. I’d love to see more organizations pushing real causes through well-told stories and with influencers who truly align with their mission. Have you seen a successful collaboration between brands and influencers for social good? Let's talk about it in the comments! #socialgood #socialimpact #causemarketing #corporatesocialresponsibility (#CSR) #nonprofitmarketing

Collin started out the statements of gratitude, but we wanted to extend it to this week, too. We at OG+S are very grateful for our staff, our clients, and our community. We absolutely could not survive as a business without our staff. They exemplify our culture, mission, and values every single day. And let us... This is the unfortunate truth for independent pharmacies lately, even those who have been in business for 86 years. As an independent pharmacy owner myself, I spend countless hours, including weekends and early mornings, to find innovative ways to keep my pharmacy profitable. The dispensing days of pharmacy are over; we must try to offer additional services, such as compounding, remote patient monitoring, testing and treatment, and collaborating more with physicians to bill for our valuable services. Although the road ahead may be challenging, this is our opportunity as a small business owner and pharmacists to be creative, innovative, and profitable by trying something new. Let's hear what niches your pharmacy has found to be profitable in the comments! 👊🏿I'm Claude, and I am an independent pharmacy and multi-business owner who invests in commercial real estate. If you are looking to learn how to invest in commercial real estate, build a successful business, or simply seeking inspiration to pursue your dreams, follow me. Like and share my content to stay updated on valuable insights. I look forward to connecting with you. #commercialrealestate #investing #RxREI #smallbusiness
86 years. Red Cross Pharmacy served their community for 86 years. Scott is a devoted pharmacist who proudly served his community, successfully ran his business, raised his family and spent time advocating for our profession. Not all heroes wear capes, some wear pharmacy coats. What a remarkable journey ended by corporate greed of PBMs. Link to story: https://lnkd.in/ddFYPSRr

I am grateful I got to know you Jacqueline Asiimwe. I am sure meeting you wasn't coincidental, it was meant to happen. That walk, oh yes! I’m looking forward to much more. I hope to meet with you again soon. To everyone reading this, a data-driven life begins just like that. What she did was simply collect, store, retrieve, reflect, and finally archive. This is the same approach your company or even you should adopt. The day-to-day activities and operations are data points. We need to gather them and utilize them to make daily decisions. Yes, we need to store them in a safe repository to ease retrieval. At the end of the quarter or year, we need to reflect, utilizing this data to assess what went right or wrong, as well as evaluate the KPIs (reflection). Like she did, just get a box to empty for the next one. What she went through was a great learning point. The motivation and satisfaction will keep her going—even for the next round. But we still need the previous data. We may reflect upon it in the future, or it can serve as a basis for comparison. So don’t throw it away, just archive it. This is a simple application that your team may need to master. To a data-driven 2025!
We have so much to be grateful for. May we learn to give thanks.

While applying for my current role as communications director for the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment and throughout the hiring process, I learned an incredible story about the creation of the only health-focused philanthropy in the nation operating within a private medical school (that school being the Medical College of Wisconsin). For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing AHW’s story and the impact of its work on the health of people, populations, and communities across the state. In AHW’s 20-year history, we’ve invested more than $338 million in nearly 650 projects devoted to improving health and advancing health equity for ALL Wisconsinites. That’s the headline. This video, which we’re sharing as part of AHW’s 20th anniversary celebration, provides the backstory, from the people who lived it. If you’re unfamiliar with this history, as I was, here’s a summary of how the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment became Wisconsin’s largest health philanthropy. *** Beginning in the 1930s, nonprofit Blue Cross voluntary pre-paid hospital plans were created across the U.S. to provide affordable healthcare coverage to millions of Americans. Wisconsin Blue Cross was chartered in 1939 as a “charitable and benevolent corporation” to cover hospitalization costs, later adding coverage for physician services and growing to become the state’s largest health insurer as Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin in the decades that followed. In 1994, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association voted to allow its nonprofit members to become for-profit corporations. Blue Cross & Blue Shield plans interested in converting to for-profit entities would have to divest their assets. In Wisconsin, Blue Cross & Blue Shield United’s transformation, precipitated by the planned retirement of its CEO, resulted in a $618 million gift made in 1999 to the people of Wisconsin, split evenly between the state’s two medical schools—the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and the Medical College of Wisconsin. https://lnkd.in/g7pukMDr
