By drawing on Aileen Moreton-Robinson’s concept of post-colonizing, David centers Indigenous ontological belonging, challenging the settler-state’s authority over housing and dwelling. This chapter offers a contingent framework for addressing the postcolonial housing question, highlighting the place-specific nature of dwelling and the persistent modalities of violent dispossession. The Urban Movement "City Is Me" team interviewed 1200 teenagers aged 10 to 17 living in cities. What are the results? 🔸62% of respondents feel happy living in their city or community. However, one in ten respondents feel the opposite. 🔸The most critical problems in cities are ecology, corruption, and danger from other city residents. 🔸 To become more involved in city life, respondents suggest creating more spaces for communication and meetings, and establishing interaction with city authorities. Here is my neutral take on the Florida Market Florida has experienced significant population growth in recent years, attracting over a million new residents, which reflects its appeal as a place to live and work. Much of this growth has come from states like New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, reinforcing Florida's reputation for offering a high quality of life. Looking ahead to 2024, while economic factors may lead to a slower growth rate, the state continues to see positive net migration. This potential slowdown could lead to more sustainable development. The increase in out-migration to states like Georgia and North Carolina presents a challenge, but also an opportunity for Florida to address issues like affordability. By focusing on maintaining a lower cost of living and improving economic stability, Florida can retain its current population while continuing to attract new residents, fostering a vibrant and dynamic community.

The Foundation for Community Association Research surveyed +/-10K associations across 44 states and found that 57% of communities update their reserve studies every 3-5 years per industry recommendations. What's even more impressive is that 26% of respondents confirm their communities perform updates every single year. -Housing costs. -Decoupling of place & work. -Desire for a slower pace of living. -Oh and caring for aging parents. The migration of young people to more rural and smaller towns is interesting. A huge problem for work and place is how we make it affordable to live near a headquarters or in a big city. Another effect I’m thinking a lot about is the impact this has on local pricing for folks who aren’t in high paying or remote jobs. Places like Tulsa Remote seem to be setting positive examples of how to manage this. Darcy Marie Mayfield ?
