Hi all- if you are a Spartan or know Spartan animal lovers, or Spartans working in the fight against cancer in the Bay Area, please share this today with your networks! We would love to have you join for our unique event this month on May 30th featuring our phenomenal faculty member Dr. Kurt Zinn. Dr. Zinn's innovative work is translational, connecting different fields of medicine. Find a snippet here from his Q and A with MSU Today: https://lnkd.in/e55GZrhb "Q: Which cancers are currently being studied through your biomedical research? A: We want to not just to kill the cancer, but to use it as a way to immunize the patient against the cancer. So, if cancer comes back in the future or if you don't get all of the cancer, you can still have a good prognosis. We currently have ongoing preclinical trials for ovarian cancer, plans for clinical trials for prostate cancer and will meet with the FDA soon to obtain guidance for conducting a funded clinical trial for bladder cancer using alpha-particle therapy."
Only FOUR days left to register! Join @sfbayspartans May 30 for a networking reception at the @HayesMansionSJ and a short presentation on how @michiganstateu’s research is impacting the way we fight cancer. Spartans, be a PART of it! Register by Monday, 5/27: go.msu.edu/3gc5 @msualumni | #MSUAlumni #SpartansWill

🎉 **Exciting News!** 🎉 I’m thrilled to share that I have officially passed my PhD dissertation in Cancer Biology! After years of hard work, dedication, and countless hours of research, I’ve reached this incredible milestone. My dissertation is titled "Molecular mechanisms governing osteosarcoma pulmonary metastasis" where I explored the molecular mechanisms behind the role of histone deacetylase inhibitors and neuropilin-1 (NRP1) in driving the metastatic spread of osteosarcoma to the lungs. This journey has been filled with challenges, growth, and many learning experiences. I’m deeply grateful to my mentor, committee members, peers, and loved ones for their support and encouragement throughout this process. A special thank you to my mentor, Conor Lynch, for his guidance, unwavering support, and for pushing me to be the best version of myself throughout this journey. As I celebrate this achievement, I’m also actively exploring new professional opportunities. With my expertise in molecular biology, I’m eager to contribute to cutting-edge research and innovation in biotech and pharmaceutical companies. I’m particularly interested in roles that focus on drug discovery, biomarker development, and therapeutic strategies. If you know of any opportunities or have advice in this space, I’d love to connect and discuss how my skills can add value to a dynamic team. The journey doesn’t end here—there’s always more to explore, create, and contribute. 🌱 Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Here’s to new beginnings and the future ahead! 🚀 #PhD #CancerBiology #MolecularBiology #Biotech #Pharma #JobSearch #CareerTransition #NextChapter
