"In November of 2021, multiple atmospheric rivers descended on the Sumas prairie and surrounding regions, dumping hundred of millimetres of rain. Cascading effects from rivers to the south flooded the low lying land, which was submerged in water after the unprecedented rainfall. Farms and communities suffered horrific losses, with over 400,000 chickens, 12,000 hogs and 420 dairy cattle who could not be saved from the flood waters, and acres of farmland unable to produce.
