It's called a proof of concept... I talk to a lot of startups. Many are seeking assistance with what equipment to purchase, how much manufacturing space they need, where to buy material, etc. One of my first questions is, "What are you going to build?" That will determine most of the answers to the questions above. My next question is, "What kind of pipeline do you have?" Without a pipeline, a book of work, you'll just have a big building with a lot of expensive equipment in it that's just burning cash monthly. Proof of concept folks.
