🌏 Marco Polo Marine's CSR Event in Da Nang, Vietnam 🌏 Marco Polo Marine Group recently organized a retreat in Da Nang, Vietnam, which brought together colleagues from various subsidiaries including Singapore, Taiwan PKRO, Jakarta PTBBR, and the Batam team. This event was highly anticipated and provided a unique opportunity for team members to engage in a meaningful community service project. During our time in Da Nang, the group expressed their gratitude to Volunteer Vietnam for their warm welcome at the 'Green House', a dedicated volunteer center. Volunteer Vietnam shared their inspiring mission focused on providing essential healthcare support to disabled individuals and enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged children. We were all deeply moved by the dedication of Volunteer Vietnam in opening doors to volunteers globally. Following the visit to the 'Green House', the team joined forces with staff and volunteers at the Social Support Centre Da Nang. Here, our members actively participated in a range of activities aimed at bringing joy to children and companionship to elderly individuals, by contributing to physiotherapy sessions, providing comfort and support to members of the disabled community. The experience left a profound impact on Marco Polo Marine Group members, who found ourselves deeply humbled and privileged to connect intimately with the local community in Da Nang. Our interactions were filled with genuine joy, heartfelt happiness, abundant love, and compassionate care. Despite the brevity of the visit, we were able to establish meaningful connections and create a positive, lasting impact on the lives of those they had the honor to serve. Overall, the retreat was not only a bonding experience for the team members from different subsidiaries but also a transformative journey of giving back to the community of Da Nang, Vietnam. #MarcoPoloMarine #CSR #CommunityService #VolunteerVietnam #DaNang #GivingBack #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SocialSustainability

Breaking Down Barriers: GITC Seeks to Empower Physically Disabled Persons in the Workforce Kuala Lumpur, 3 September 2024 - GITC had the privilege of meeting with YB. Senator Tuan Isaiah D. Jacob, a distinguished member of the Dewan Negara (Senate) Parliament of Malaysia. Our discussion focused on providing opportunities for physically disabled persons or Orang Keperluan Khas (OKK, a term coined by YB. Tuan Isaiah) to join the workforce and creating a pool of talented individuals through TVET education and training. With a staggering 725,000 registered physically disabled persons in Malaysia, and a concerning 16% of the total population unaccounted for, it is imperative that we take immediate action to create a more inclusive and accessible workplace environment. Industries must play a pivotal role in ensuring that physically disabled persons have equal opportunities to contribute their skills and talents to the nation's growth. By providing safe, inclusive, and supportive workplaces, we can harness the immense potential of this underrepresented segment of our population. The meeting chaired by CEO En. Jamil Bakri, highlights GITC's commitment to working with YB. Senator Tuan Isaiah D. Jacob and other stakeholders to develop strategies and initiatives that will break down barriers and empower physically disabled persons to succeed in the workforce. Together, we can build a more equitable and inclusive Malaysia for all. #GITC #Inclusion #TVETforall #DisabilityRights #WorkforceDevelopment #Malaysia #Accessibility #Empowerment

ASB Indonesia and the Philippines have developed principles to ensure inclusion, called the 5 Inclusion Musts. One of these musts is accessibility, and a key aspect of accessibility is physical accessibility. Physical accessibility have to remove all physical barriers. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes physical barriers as “Factors in a person's environment that, through their absence or presence, limit functioning and create disability.” These factors can include an environment that is not physically accessible, such as steps into a building or an inaccessible transport system. Learn more about organising events in accessible buildings in this document below. #Inclusion #Accessibility #ASB #AccessibleEvents

𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗡 Muslims in Singapore were set to observe the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan on Tuesday (12 March). Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, marked by fasting, reflection, charity, and prayer. As a person growing up in Malaysia, I often wondered how my Muslim classmates could endure the fasting period. I even felt bad about eating or drinking in front of them. Lean In asked our Muslim community what people could do to be better colleagues during Ramadan. Here are some of their answers. So, what does this mean for women and workplaces, especially in Asia? 👉 Health and well-being: Women may experience unique health considerations during fasting, especially if pregnant, breastfeeding, or menstruating. Employers should be sensitive to these factors and provide additional support or accommodations. 👉 Family responsibilities: In many cultures, women traditionally take on additional household and caregiving responsibilities during Ramadan. Employers can support female employees by offering flexibility in workload or schedules to effectively balance work and family commitments. 👉 Modesty and attire: During Ramadan, some women may observe stricter modesty practices, including hijab or modest clothing. Colleagues should respect these choices and avoid comments or behaviors that make female employees uncomfortable about their appearance or religious practices. 👉 Community involvement: Ramadan is a time for personal reflection, community engagement, and religious activities. Women may participate in community iftars (breaking the fast meals) or attend additional prayers at mosques. Employers can demonstrate understanding by allowing time off or flexible work arrangements to accommodate these important religious observances. 👉 Emotional support: Fasting can be emotionally challenging, and women may experience additional stress or fatigue, particularly if they are managing multiple responsibilities. Creating a supportive environment where female employees feel comfortable discussing their needs and concerns can significantly affect their well-being during Ramadan. Share this post with your non-Muslim co-workers to spread awareness about this month. Let's unite in understanding and supporting our Muslim colleagues during Ramadan.
