*Is it true that Everest is not the tallest mountain of all?* The correct answer is: It Depends. Everest rises at 8,849.86 meters above sea level and is considered the tallest mountain on Earth. So if the question was, "Is Everest the highest mountain above sea level? “The answer is yes. However, because not specified in the application, to be more precise, there is an even higher peak, only partially below sea level. This is Mauna Kea, an ancient dormant volcano in the Hawaiian islands. Considering its submerged in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Mauna Kea is actually 9,754 meters high. SH Diana 🚢 🇬🇷 The Corinth Canal (Greek: Διώρυγα της Κορίνθου, romanized: Dioryga tis Korinthou) is an artificial canal in Greece that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 miles) in length and only 24.6 metres (80.7 feet) wide at sea level, making it impassable for many modern ships.
