Key to Indo-Pacific military dominance primarily relies on the Naval prowess in the region, with the undersea control relying upon submarines and other autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs/UUVs). More than a dozen navies have submarines (including growing fleet of Indian subs) deployed in the Region, and the Submarine rescue facility close by during deep water operations is always a much-desired factor. India's Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. (HSL) is in the process of delivering 02 Diving Support Vessels (DSVs), mainly to support deep sea submarine rescue missions. Indian Navy's deep-sea Clearance Divers are the best trained for Submarine rescue missions etc. Indian Navy has always played a crucial role as the First Responder and Preferred Security Partner in the IOR and these DSVs, are unique strategic assets for India. https://lnkd.in/gc9XSRKQ #HSL #IndianNavy #Indopacific #submarine VENKATESWARLU GANTI Cdr Mukul Rathi SK Chatterji Cdr Abhishek Kankan

The final Vahana workboats have been delivered to the Royal Navy. As part of a £48 million contract the U.K. Defence Equipment & Support awarded to Dorset-based Atlas Elektronik (AEUK) to replace outdated vessels, the fleet used for diving, surveying, and training operations is now complete. Constructed to a versatile, modular design, the new boats known as the ‘SEA class’ are based on a standardised hull that is interchangeable, allowing them to be adapted for different tasks. With the ability to carry differing payloads and providing improved speed, operational range and navigation equipment, the 15m long Vahanas workboats play a vital role for the Royal Navy. The handover of the last two boats – Merlin and Fantome – to the Fleet Hydrography and Meteorology Unit in Devonport marks the contract’s completion and signifies the full operating capability of all vessels. The new boats are operated from UK ports and Royal Navy surface vessels, and are used for several roles from logistics support, officer training, hydrographic survey, and passenger transport, to dive support and training. The contract, known as Project Vahana, was first announced in September 2017, with the new vessels required to replace boats made in the early 1990s that had reached the end of their service lives. Around 60 UK jobs were sustained through the contract. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gbigFEJp

Maritime superstitions are as old as seafaring itself, and one of the most pervasive beliefs is the ominous nature of Friday the 13th. Mariners have long held a deep respect for the unpredictable and often perilous nature of the sea, leading to a rich tradition of superstitions intended to protect them from harm. Among these, Friday is considered an unlucky day to set sail, a belief likely rooted in Christian tradition. When combined with the number 13, which has its own history of being deemed unlucky, Friday the 13th becomes a particularly dreaded date. Sailors might avoid embarking on voyages or undertaking significant endeavors on this day, opting instead to wait for a more auspicious time. While modern science and technology have greatly improved maritime safety, these superstitions remain a fascinating reflection of the human desire to find patterns and seek protection in the face of the sea's vast uncertainty. #maritime #fridaythe13th #shipyard #portangeles #superyacht #boats #superstitions #platypusmarine #platypus #pacificnorthwest #olympicpeninsula

Avon Protection, the leader in innovative underwater and CBRN protective equipment, is pleased to announce that its MCM100 Multi-Role Rebreather has been selected by the New Zealand Defence Force to equip its navy divers. This significant contract includes the supply of MCM100 systems, spares and accessories, and a multi-year support programme. New Zealand joins a user community that includes other key NATO nations and partner navies. Initially developed and deployed with global militaries and specialist user groups, the MCM100 delivers enhanced diver safety and extended mission duration for military divers across the spectrum of shallow and deep-water diving operations; including explosive ordinance disposal (EOD), mine-countermeasures (MCM), Special Forces, covert subsurface infiltration, submarine release & infiltration, and manned underwater vehicle operations. The electronically controlled, closed-circuit MCM100 uses advanced digital oxygen sensors and a native decompression algorithm to manage the oxygen and decompression risk. System and mission information is fed to the diver via a wrist or console-mounted handset display and a heads-up display, maximising system useability and allowing the user to focus on the mission rather than the equipment. Additionally, automated pre-dive sequencing reduces mission readiness time and enhances safety. The MCM100’s modular design ensures a future-proofed capability for the underwater operator, providing users flexibility in how and when they integrate new technologies as they become available or as their mission envelope changes. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gJdJF4ur

I would like to post some nice photos of today's visits, but unfortunately the #naval and #superyacht building are a thing with quite a high level of secrecy. Naval yards are increasingly important in today's world, with all of the European countries stocking up for obvious reasons. As we learned today, there is extremely high capability of designing and building very efficient navy vessels just a short drive from Rotterdam. All things considered, a very informative day with visits to Damen Yachting, Damen Naval and Oceanco. Didn't quite know what an impressive product a super yacht is, how much high technology is included and how much labor is needed to build one. Truly an impressive product. Of course, one can argue is there any sense in building super yachts. However, it was nice to see that the shipyards have also been having the same thoughts, considering alternative, less pollutive fuels, taking the environment into consideration as much as possible, having goal to have the super yachts carbon neutral, taking care of the social issues of the industry, just to name a few aspects. All in all, a very nice, and extremely informative experience, with also many new cooperation for Adwatec Oy possibilities in the future. #marine #sustainability #safetyforeurope
