Ohmium has signed a term sheet with SwitcH2 Offshore to develop PEM #electrolyzer solutions for a pioneering 300-MW #offshore #floating #greenhydrogen and #ammonia synthesis project led by SwitcH2.   The project, located off the coast of Southern Europe, will establish an industrial-scale floating green #hydrogen and ammonia production facility based on proven Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (#FPSO) technologies. Ohmium's 300 MW PEM electrolyzer solutions will be installed aboard SwitcH2’s 268-meter FPSO vessel. Once operational, the facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and nearly 300 kton of #greenammonia – enough to fuel multiple oceangoing vessels for a full year.   Ohmium’s PEM electrolyzers will utilize nearshore #solar and #wind power, along with treated seawater, to produce green hydrogen. The hydrogen will then be fed into an on-deck ammonia synthesis unit, with the resulting green ammonia eventually offloaded onto carriers for transport to offtakers. Supported by the Dutch government and with design approval in principle from the Norwegian certification agency DNV, the project aims to begin green ammonia production by 2029. Provaris Energy Ltd (ASX:PV1, OTC:GBBLF) has inked a binding joint development agreement with Yinson Production Offshore Pte Ltd for the development of carbon dioxide (CO2) storage tank solutions. The two companies will evaluate the technical and economic viability of adapting PV1’s proprietary #hydrogen compression tank design to develop cost-effective innovations for the bulk-scale storage and transport of compressed and #LiquidCO2. The collaboration will also look at other #GasCompression options including #ammonia, combining Yinson Production’s long track record in floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels for the offshore production industry with Provaris' proven expertise in creating designs for bulk marine storage and transportation. The pilot aims to produce green hydrogen on an operational gas platform, with three offshore energy systems integrated to allow for the transport of hydrogen and gas to land via an existing pipeline. The facility is capable of converting seawater into demineralised water to produce hydrogen via electrolysis.
