The idea is simple but impactful—challenging my team with trivia not just about holiday traditions but also about each other. It’s been a fun and engaging way to spark conversations, uncover shared interests, and get to know one another on a deeper level. In the fast-paced world of logistics (or any industry), it’s easy to focus solely on work, but building personal connections can make a huge difference in team dynamics and overall morale. Leadership lesson from a Driver vs Crew Chief relationship: One of the toughest dynamics in Monster Jam is getting the Driver - Crew Chief dynamic right. We’re typically assigned to each other by the Ops team. I’ve had some of these relationships be great… and I’ve had some be nightmares… I have to have confidence the machinery is right before I go out to backflip a 12k pound machine in front of 60k people …and he has to fix what I break each week It’s good to like each other and to respect each other’s role in the big team… but the biggest differentiator I’ve seen: ⚙️We BOTH have to see and believe in the POTENTIAL of the team ⚙️ Are they seeing the team for what it is now or do they see it for what it can become… and how they play a role in that?? 🛑Quit putting off that difficult conversation with your team member. If some candor can help them shift into their full potential… why would you withhold that??
