The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) is the governing body overseeing the entire American soccer ecosystem. By exerting control over the USSF, Major League Soccer (MLS) can systematically weaken and eliminate any potential competition, imposing policies that centralize power in its favor. This is precisely what has been happening.
An independent USSF, adhering strictly to its charter of serving the best interests of all its constituents, poses a significant threat to MLS's dominance. For example, an ethical and independent USSF would not have allowed MLS to manipulate the US Open Cup to its advantage.
To understand the underlying issues with the US Men's National Team (#USMNT) and where the real source of the problem lies, we need to look at the different levels of influence within US soccer:
Level 1: Gregg Berhalter and Matt Crocker—figureheads who follow orders.
Level 2: Cindy Parlow Cone and JT Batson—replaceable, symbolic leaders.
Level 3: Don Garber—a messenger for those truly in charge.
Level 4: The MLS owners—controlling the ecosystem through their corrupt puppets in the USSF.
MLS has little to no interest in the overall improvement of the federation. Its primary goal is to maintain absolute power and control. By puppeteering the USSF, MLS ensures its interests are prioritized, often at the expense of other stakeholders in the American soccer community. This monopolistic approach stifles competition, innovation, and the broader growth of the sport in the United States.
Parallel to this is the role of establishment media, which manipulates public perception to uphold the entire scheme. They achieve this primarily by keeping the public focused on Level 1, obscuring the deeper layers of control and corruption.
In summary, the MLS's opposition to an independent USSF is a power play to maintain control and suppress competition, with a complicit media aiding in the deception
