For anyone interested in my research on conflict analysis, I've uploaded a short video outing the basics of what I'm trying to achieve. Link for the questionnaire is in my previous post. Please, please, please, if you make judgements about international conflicts as a job (whether formally or informally), please consider filling it out! Not only will it support research that will make us all better, but each response will result in a donation to War Child.

🌍 Join us for an engaging online workshop: "Rethinking Peace and Conflict: The ‘Colonial Underside’ and Its Conceptual Ground" 🗓 Date: November 4, 2024 🕑 Time: 2-5 PM (CET) Our conceptual and theoretical understanding of peace work and conflict transformation is often based on Eurocentric assumptions. These characterise the self-image, attitudes and concrete goals of international peace projects - usually dominated by actors from the Global North. By marginalising other perspectives, epistemic violence is perpetuated and equal recognition and partnerships are made more difficult. In this workshop, we want to create space for critical reflection and interactive creativity: What understandings of peace and conflict exist in locally led peace initiatives but are not heard and recognised? How can a different conceptual framework inform our understanding of partnerships and offer new insights into peace and conflict? Robinah Nampanga will give insights into the Ubuntu Philosophy and provide impulses for conflict transformation from an anti-racist perspective. Inputs will be provided by: ✨Keynote: Robinah Nampanga, Shining Ubuntu 🎨Graphic recording: Jai Wanigesinghe 🤝Host and facilitator: Cora Bieß, Platform Peaceful Conflict Transformation, Registration: To register and for any inquiries, please reach out to Cora Bieß at cora.biess@pzkb.de Please note: We do not send out registration confirmations. A Zoom link will be provided a few days before the event. More information: https://lnkd.in/dKWPwBDD 👉 Feel free to share this invitation with your network! Together, we can foster a more inclusive dialogue on peace and conflict transformation.

We are excited to invite you to participate in an upcoming knowledge exchange organized by the world lecture project. The world is undergoing profound transformations, bringing about numerous conflicts on both international and local levels. The pressing question is: will we address these conflicts constructively and peacefully, or will they escalate into violence and destruction? In this context, it is vital that we work together to share insights, experiences, and strategies for managing and transforming conflicts nonviolently. Thanks to the power of the Internet, we have access to a rich heritage of ideas and experiences on intelligent conflict resolution from various cultures and thanks to the world lecture project, we can explore an extensive collection of academic videos about theories and methods on how to transform conflicts without violence. But this is just the beginning: We need to connect this knowledge and present it in a way that is both understandable and engaging - and we must bring it to the places where it’s needed. At this event, social scientists, conflict resolution experts, peace activists and journalists from different countries will come together to curate and compile the most essential videos and resources on nonviolent conflict transformation and deliver them where they are needed. By combining our diverse expertise and skills, we'll create a comprehensive knowledge base featuring the best theories and methods for conflict resolution, freely accessible to everyone, everywhere. 📅 Event Details: Date:24.09.2024 and 01.10.2024 Time: 17:00 CEST Location: online We would be honored to have you join us. ICYMI: Children as Stakeholders in the Conflict Transformation Process Recognizing children as stakeholders means recognizing they have a role to play in conflict transformation processes. Rachel Ansley argues that the long-term trajectory of conflict transformation processes connects the underlying factors that enable violent conflict to children’s potential to influence these dynamics in the future, leading to more opportunities for sustainable peace.

A quote from the book: "The book offers a unique perspective on peacebuilding, highlighting the importance of: community-led initiatives; grassroots engagement; innovative, informed, and inclusive approaches, and youth involvement. This success, building an extended peace in this conflict, prove that peace is possible, even in the most complex and prolonged conflicts. This provides a practical evidence for an innovative approach that prevents and resolves violent-bloody conflicts quickly, safely, inexpensively, and effectively. This book, giving a clue to the hurdles of many conflicts in Africa and the world, inspires: extreme sacrifice, determination, hard work, and risk to achieve a lasting peace. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and sustainable development. With violent conflicts affecting over 1.5 billion people worldwide, and peacebuilding efforts declining, this book offers a timely and practical solution to building sustainable peace."

🙏 Our Role as Facilitators in Times of Crises, War, and Genocide 🙏 Since starting my facilitation journey, I’ve been dedicated to creating spaces that prioritize safety and inclusivity—spaces where we can mindfully engage with power dynamics, emotional processes, and collaboratively shape the environments we aspire to inhabit. The ongoing genocides and wars have deepened my reflection on what it means to facilitate in such times. These crises raise challenging questions about how and when I should intervene, and what kinds of spaces I wish to create in response. In my journey, I’ve come to realize that neutrality doesn’t mean avoiding a stance. At times, I can take all sides, emphasize diverse perspectives, and help others understand why certain beliefs are held. But how do we navigate the fine line between holding space for multiple perspectives and taking a necessary stance to restore safety? When does attempting to hold all sides result in the perception that we’re not taking a stance at all—undermining trust or perpetuating harm, and contributing to an unsafe environment for some participants? These are questions I continue to grapple with. What I do know is that when identity politics enters the discussion, the stakes are higher. There’s a greater risk of marginalization, exclusion, or unintentionally perpetuating oppression. Despite these challenges, I’m committed to avoiding complicity in injustice. My facilitation is grounded in compassion, care, and the belief that we can create the conditions for collective liberation in every session. To explore these questions together and deepen our understanding, I’m hosting a free, exploratory space for facilitators: "Our Role as Facilitators in Times of Crises, War, and Genocide." This will be a space to examine the intricate dilemmas we face, share insights, and engage in practical exercises around power dynamics, conflict resolution, and navigating polarization. 🗓️ Date: October 17th, 18:00 - 20:00 📍 Reserve your spot here: https://lnkd.in/dMv4MQvk

Rebuilding Hope: A Privilege We Must Cherish Born in the midst of a civil war, many children never stepped foot inside a classroom. Their days were filled with the sounds of distant explosions and the whispers of their mothers teaching them the alphabet by candlelight. Parents salvaged scraps of paper from abandoned homes, using them to teach their children the basics of reading and writing. "Knowledge is your freedom," they would say. Now, after years of terror and loss, the war has subsided. Syria is beginning to rebuild, - brick by brick, life by life. But for these children, the scars run deep. A whole generation has grown up without the joy of learning in a proper school or the carefree laughter of playgrounds. For many of us, education is a given. We take for granted the simple act of walking into a school, opening a book, or even signing our names. But for war-torn children, it is a privilege hard-earned. As the world watches Syria rebuild, let us not forget the resilience of its young generation. These children, who have known nothing but conflict, now carry the weight of creating a brighter future. Their potential is immense, but they need support, - teachers, resources, and a global community that believes in their worth. While we enjoy the freedoms of peace and education, others are fighting just to taste them. Let’s honor their courage by cherishing our privileges and contributing to a world where every child can dream, learn, and thrive. The school doors will open soon, and with them, the doors to a better future for these children. All they need is a chance—and a world that refuses to forget them. #RebuildingHope #SyriaRecovery #SupportOurChildren #EveryChildMatters #HumanRights

Please join us for this episode of "Emotional Algebra with Dr. E..." where we delve into the complex socio-political landscape of #Haiti, drawing on Dr. E...'s experience working in the country since 2015, in the continuing aftermath of the 2010 earthquake and other natural disasters.
