"Whatever is going on at the U.S. Open... I want in." - Every brand, celebrity, and influencer this year It feels like everyone who's anyone spent a day at the Open this summer. I'm not THAT into tennis. I grew up in NJ and never went when I was younger. But for the first time ever, I wanted to be at the U.S. Open. 2024 was a record-breaking year for tournament attendance, but the coverage off-the-court was what's most impressive. As influencers flooded social media with court-side selfies and pop-up experiences, they created a digital version of the tournament that stretched well-beyond the stadium. The curated moments and celebrity-spotting made for A+ content. It felt like tennis was on every corner of the internet. (And it just so happens to make the perfect finale to our tennis-core summer...) Brands have definitely taken notice. Yes, iconic sponsors like J.P. Morgan and Heineken showed up in big ways, but even more brands found their ways into the stadium. 🎾 Aperol curated pop up patios around the stadium ground 🎾 Amex created an on-site Centurion for cardmembers 🎾 Dobel Tequila had its own bar with a prime view My question is... what comes first... the brand or the influencer? Do brands dictate what will be the hottest events of the year? Or does influencer-demand dictate the events that brands want to be at? Where does the avalanche start? P.S.
