About us

Liverpool Philharmonic enhances and transforms lives through music, reaching more people than any other music organisation outside London. At the heart of Liverpool Philharmonic is the critically acclaimed Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (the UK’s oldest). The iconic Grade II listed Art Deco Philharmonic Hall and smaller venue the Music Room host a diverse programme of artists ranging from contemporary, rock, pop, folk, roots and jazz music, to comedy, film and spoken word. Central to Liverpool Philharmonic’s mission is an extensive learning programme. Recognised as a national leader in its field in its quality, reach and impact on local communities the programme provides regular musical training to thousands of young people through Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company and In Harmony Liverpool. The flagship Music and Health Programme is the longest-running and largest of its kind supporting over 18,000 people living with mental and physical ill health across the Liverpool City Region.

  • We’re currently looking for a Learning Projects Co-ordinator to help organise In Harmony programmes and activities for young people, their families, schools and communities, and ensure that all rehearsals and events run smoothly and successfully. This is a hands-on role, where you’ll be responsible for building strong relationships with participants, partners and stakeholders, serving as a first point of contact for all involved. Alongside musicians and administrators, you’ll work to grow In Harmony’s reach and diversity, using participant feedback to inform the programme’s direction. Liverpool Philharmonic’s flagship social action and community development programme, In Harmony Liverpool, has gone from strength to strength over the years, now working with over 1750 young people across North Liverpool.   • We are incredibly grateful to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for awarding Liverpool Philharmonic a generous gift that will have a transformative impact on young people and communities across the Liverpool City Region. This dedicated funding will allow us to expand our In Harmony Youth Hubs, bringing music-making opportunities to even more areas of the city.   • What fantastic news for Liverpool and its music sector! The Liverpool City Region has been announced as a new £6.75 million UKRI Creative Cluster for the Music sector. Led by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, MusicFutures will, over the next five years, establish the Liverpool City Region as a music research and development  powerhouse and ecosystem. We are delighted to be a part of this transformative project that will allow us to fully fulfil the potential of the sector, the talent in the city, and to further strengthen our position as a global music city.   • We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jernice Easthope, Tom Lewis, and David Lloyd to our Board of Trustees. Bringing expertise from the entertainment, financial, and music industries - our new Board Members will advise and support Liverpool Philharmonic during the coming years. The new members will be replacing Vanessa Bakewell and Angela Bellingham, who have stepped down after serving on the board for six years and Claire Jackson who stepped down earlier in the year after four and a half years. Liverpool Philharmonic is grateful to Vanessa, Angela and Claire for their dedication during this time, a period which included the very challenging years of the pandemic.   • We are honoured to receive Music Venue Trust's Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Music Award 2024, alongside venues across the country! MVT works tirelessly to protect, secure and improve UK grassroots music venues for communities and emerging artists. And this year, in celebration of its 10th Birthday, it has given this award to not one, but all its delegates working together to protect the UK’s grassroots music scene. As well as working with many of the country’s leading promoters to attract world class artists to perform at our Hall, our intimate, 190 seat venue, Music Room, has booked 139 shows in 2024, ranging from classical, contemporary, rock, pop, folk, roots and jazz to comedy and spoken word. We partner with many diverse cultural organisations in the city to ensure that the artists and performances we put on stage, and the audiences we attract truly represent our community. We are pleased to receive this award alongside our Liverpool City Region colleagues in Future Yard CIC, Quarry and The Caledonia who all do great work to strengthen the music scene of the North West.
