Using a niche recruiter instead of a generalist search firm can provide several advantages when hiring senior marketing talent. I think this is particularly true within tech marketing hiring. Here are my three key reasons: 1. Industry Expertise Niche recruiters specialize in specific industries and roles, meaning we have a deep understanding of the technology sector and marketing landscape. We are more familiar with the nuances of hiring for senior marketing roles in a tech business, including the skills and experience needed to drive growth in such a fast-paced environment. This expertise helps us assess candidates more effectively and ensure a better fit for your company's needs. 2. Access to Specialised Talent Pools We maintain focused networks and talent pools, making us more likely to have direct connections with experienced marketing professionals who have a proven track record in the tech industry. This can significantly speed up the hiring process and improve the quality of candidates. Generalist firms, on the other hand, may not have access to these specialised networks, leading to a broader but less relevant candidate pool and a slower process. 3. Understanding of Technology and Marketing Synergy In tech businesses, senior marketing roles often require a unique blend of marketing acumen and technical knowledge, such as familiarity with product marketing, growth marketing, or data-driven strategies. We regularly work within the tech industry and understand how to find candidates who possess both marketing expertise and the ability to understand complex tech products and ecosystems. Generalist firms may lack this level of insight, potentially leading to mismatches between candidates and your specific requirements. By choosing a niche recruiter, you're more likely to find candidates with the right mix of skills, experience, and industry knowledge tailored to your technology business. If you're looking to hire top-tier marketing talent for your tech company, reach out to us today and let's discuss how we can help you find the perfect fit.

"What is your experience hiring for marketing roles?" This is an essential question to ask any prospective marketing recruiting partner you're vetting. Any seasoned recruiter will tell you that being 100% focused on their niche enables them to deliver the best talent for their clients. Look for a partner that specializes in marketing-related positions. This should mean they are well-networked in the niche and well-versed in emerging industry trends. The second point is key; marketing evolves incredibly fast, meaning the best recruiters must always remain on top of what's happening in the industry to identify and evaluate a candidate's suitability for any given role. You need a recruiting partner who can deliver only the candidates with the relevant skills and experience you need to give your organization a competitive advantage. At Vetted, we specialize in recruiting marketers. Our founder's 8 years of experience in the marketing industry, coupled with our 25+ years of recruiting marketers, amplifies our impact. This specialization allows us to find better-qualified candidates faster than a recruiting partner lacking marketing expertise. With Vetted, it's simple: you get high-impact marketers and significantly reduce your time-to-hire, giving your organization a competitive advantage.

Paying a talent sourcing agency $15k for a marketing hire didn't seem like the most effective use of funds for my agency. Here's a better hiring hack that you can use for free within LinkedIn that I've used to great success (see green filtering in screenshot): - Use the search feature to type in the name of a company you know has awesome talent (i.e. I'll use Enterprise who are known for its amazing training processes). - click People - Go to All filters, then scroll down to "Past company" and select Enterprise again, then Show results Now, you can sort through all previous Enterprise employees to see if their work history matches your job criteria, then reach out to them via a message to see if they are interested in chatting. I've created job listings on LinkedIn so candidates can find our open positions, but I found that reverse-engineering companies with expertise I respect was a much better way to cut through the noise. For example, I recently brought on an elite PPC manager who was previously at a PPC agency I really respect, as well as 2 elite SEO managers who also have PhDs (my agency is in the biotech space). Personally, I go after previous employees of these companies as I feel it would be unethical to poach from competitors, but the moral flexibility that you utilize to find candidates is up to you. P.S. I have nothing against head hunters. I just found that the time it takes for me to do the above factored into my hourly rate was a fraction of what it would cost for a hiring agency to do this for me. #hiring #marketinghiring
