NOVUM Hospitality and the #construction company NXTBAU plan to build ten #hotels using #sustainable wooden modular construction in the next few years.
The Hamburg hotel group Novum Hospitality and the construction company Nxtbau have signed an agreement to realize ten hotel projects using sustainable #wooden modular construction. The hotels are to be built and opened within the next five to ten years, will have a total of 2,000 to 2,500 rooms and will be implemented as part of the strategic partnership between Novum Hospitality and IHG Hotels & Resorts. In the future, the hotels will be operated by Novum Hospitality under various midscale and upper midscale brands of IHG. The first hotel project in Hamburg has already been secured.
"In addition to the Greensign certification that all of our hotels in #Germany have, we also want to go a step further in terms of sustainable project development: The #innovative wooden modular construction not only contributes to reducing CO² #emissions and conserving resources, but also enables a comparatively fast and high-quality implementation of construction projects," explains David Etmenan, CEO of Novum Hospitality. "In the future, this will enable us to better meet the growing demands of sustainable tourism in an #ESG-influenced 360-degree view, while at the same time optimizing our operational processes - a decisive competitive advantage for us in a changing hotel market."

Sustainable wooden modular construction offers numerous advantages for the hotel industry. As a #renewable raw material, wood binds CO₂ as it grows, which significantly improves the #carbon footprint compared to conventional building materials such as #steel or #concrete and ensures a positive ecological footprint. In addition, the prefabrication of the modules can help reduce material waste through more precise work and minimized surpluses.
In addition to the sustainability benefits, the wooden modular construction also creates an efficiency advantage: the faster off-site prefabrication of the individual wooden modules reduces the construction time, which ensures that the hotels built in this way can be opened and used more quickly. In addition, the modular construction offers a high degree of flexibility. The modular parts manufactured in this way can also be installed on existing buildings in the sense of densification. In addition, the houses built in this way can be easily extended or converted if necessary without significantly disrupting ongoing hotel operations.
