Congratulations to our partners Opportunity Finance Network, Inclusiv, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), SELF (Solar and Energy Loan Fund), National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, Prosperity Now, members of the Justice Climate Fund, and all the grant recipients of the monumental GGRF announced today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency! This moment is not only a step into the right direction of mitigating climate change and economic justice towards achieving a green economy— but to also lower energy costs, enhance public health, and promote workforce development in LMI communities. As the climate and community development finance sectors merge, there's enormous opportunity for the NMTC industry to embrace decarbonization as both a business and mission imperative. That's why my team at Broadstreet undertook this research project -- to identify concrete actions CDEs and others in the NMTC industry could take to help tackle the climate crisis in ways the benefit the underinvested communities we serve. By integrating climate-focused strategies, CDEs can better serve the communities they finance and expand their impact by partnering with Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (#GGRF) awardees. This report is a call to action, empowering CDEs to adopt practices that contribute to decarbonization. This study takes a deep dive into how Community Development Entities (CDEs) can help push decarbonization forward in the New Markets Tax Credit (#NMTC) sector.
