Congratulations to our partners Opportunity Finance Network, Inclusiv, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), SELF (Solar and Energy Loan Fund), National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, Prosperity Now, members of the Justice Climate Fund, and all the grant recipients of the monumental GGRF announced today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency! This moment is not only a step into the right direction of mitigating climate change and economic justice towards achieving a green economy— but to also lower energy costs, enhance public health, and promote workforce development in LMI communities. Now, the work turns to HOW we get these funds to reach the members of our community to create equitable access and benefit from such a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. LEDC, as a CDFI, is ready to contribute to these efforts and become a bridge for affordable green lending and other climate conscious initiatives to reach historically underserved communities in the DMV. 🔗 Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/e7MtgAFt #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #CommunityEmpowerment #EnvironmentalJustice #SustainableFuture

As the climate and community development finance sectors merge, there's enormous opportunity for the NMTC industry to embrace decarbonization as both a business and mission imperative. That's why my team at Broadstreet undertook this research project -- to identify concrete actions CDEs and others in the NMTC industry could take to help tackle the climate crisis in ways the benefit the underinvested communities we serve. Please give this a read or pass it along to someone who might be interested in our research!
Decarbonization in the #NMTC sector requires a systems change that involves collaboration across various sectors. By integrating climate-focused strategies, CDEs can better serve the communities they finance and expand their impact by partnering with Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (#GGRF) awardees. This report is a call to action, empowering CDEs to adopt practices that contribute to decarbonization. Backed by comprehensive research and interviews with key NMTC players, the findings highlight the steps CDEs can take to align with broader sector trends, mitigate risks, and support the transition towards a more sustainable and equitable future. Let's work together to drive this change. “When I think about projects like Waasigan, the model really is about collaborating throughout the development phase of the project as partners. Creating space for Indigenous inclusion and input into major decisions so that our projects reflect the input of communities right from the beginning.” ~ Matthew Jackson, Director, Indigenous Relations, Partnerships & Business Development Hydro One Energizing life means more than supplying safe and reliable power, it means partnering to build tomorrow’s infrastructure that supports a clean economy and advances reconciliation. We achieve this by listening and taking actions to meet communities’ needs, and through our industry-leading First Nations equity partnership model. In cooperation with First Nation partners, work is underway to advance this project together, including an environmental assessment, so that we’re ready to support the region’s electricity needs. At Impact Marketplace, we’re always looking for ways to drive positive change. That’s why we’re proud that our team member, Matt Drinen, was able to participate in a key study led by Broadstreet Impact Services. This study takes a deep dive into how Community Development Entities (CDEs) can help push decarbonization forward in the New Markets Tax Credit (#NMTC) sector. The report, "𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐌𝐓𝐂 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫," shows that collaboration across sectors is essential. It outlines practical ways CDEs can adopt climate-focused strategies to better serve communities and work with Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (#GGRF) awardees to expand their impact. A big thank you to Broadstreet Impact Services for inviting us to contribute to this important research. This is more than just a report—it’s a call for CDEs to lead the way in creating lasting, sustainable change. 🔗 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/gjpSWqAs At Impact Marketplace, we’ve made it easier for CDEs to find 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 seeking NMTC financing. Want to know how green finance can transform communities? Watch this short video from NBC4 Washington on an inspiring leader that our team at DC Green Bank has the privilege to invest in, Ayesha M. Hudson!
What a great way to close out an historic week for green banks! These are the types of stories that you will see for years to come as we demonstrate the power of green finance to transform communities. Yesterday's announcement by VP Harris and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan to unlock $20 billion through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) in investments that will reach every community in the country was an incredible step forward for green banks and critical partners. We are ready to get to work! Green banks are ready, and we have the track record to show it. When the GGRF dollars begin to make their way to communities, we will have countless more stories like this one with our inspiring and dedicated partner Ayesha M. Hudson. Ayesha has been serving her community for decades, and now she is bringing affordable and sustainable housing to those who need it most and in a community all-too-often forgotten. We are fortunate to be able to work with leaders like Ayesha and invest in her dreams. Thank you to the NBC4 Washington team, including Molette Green, for telling this important story. https://lnkd.in/eXF5usUT
