One defining moment in my career as a Customer support rep/VA was when I received a heartfelt feedback from a client during my early days in customer support. They told me how much they loved my patience, empathy, and ability to truly listen. That feedback changed everything for me. It was more than just a compliment, it made me realize that I was really invested in problem-solving. That moment made me understand that customer support was more than resolving issues; it was about creating trust, building relationships, and making people feel valued. From that point on, I decided to specialize in roles where problem solving, communication and connection were at the core. 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 is more than just hearing words—it’s about deeply understanding the customer’s needs, concerns, and emotions. Whether over a phone call or email, active listening allows me to offer tailored solutions and build strong, meaningful connections with customers. I’ve found that this skill is also essential for Virtual Assistants. 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚: 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬: Just like in customer service, a Virtual Assistant must actively listen to clients, capturing the nuances of their requests to deliver accurate and efficient results. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: When clients feel heard, they trust you to manage their tasks effectively—whether it's handling schedules, managing projects, or conducting research. 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬: Active listening allows both CSRs and VAs to anticipate issues and provide proactive solutions, making us indispensable business partners.
