The Influence Of Post-Modernist Architecture The architectural landscape of the 20th century was dominated by the Modernist movement, which championed simplicity, functionality, and a rejection of traditional ornamental elements. However, as the century progressed, a growing dissatisfaction with the rigidity and uniformity of Modernist architecture began to emerge, paving the way for a new era of architectural expression – Post-Modernism. The seeds of Post-Modernist architecture were sown in the mid-20th century, as architects and theorists began to question the dogmatic principles of Modernism. One of the pioneers of this movement was Robert Venturi, whose seminal work, "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture," published in 1966, challenged the prevailing notion of simplicity as the ultimate virtue in design.
