In anticipation of EU-wide standards of #Design4recycling and #recyclability assessment, you may get lost among existing different assessment guidelines e.g. Recyclass, Recoup, and others. BKV GmbH and Institut cyclos-HTP GmbH have published a comparative study of 9 existing assessment standards.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 „𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴“ The study compares different approaches to assessing the #recyclability of ##plastic #packaging. The study focuses on the methodological comparison between the three basic types: D4R guidelines, D4R assessments and recyclability assessments. To this end, the procedures of the different basic types are described in detail and compared. The comparison is carried out on two levels. A plastic cup as a food container has several journeys ahead of it - and it's always about efficiency. The efficiency with which it is produced 🏭, stacked and transported to the filler 🚚. The efficiency with which it runs through the filling line 🏭 and is transported to the supermarket shelves 🚛 along with its contents. As it is Global recycling day i want to comment briefly on agriculture - which in many respects requires specific focus today as soil health and toxicity is so critical - Contamination, mixed materials, and a lack of infrastructure are the culprits. We need better solutions for agricultural plastic waste! Biobased solution’s exist for this very challenging issue #biobased #bioeconomy #AgRecycling #CircularEconomy #Sustainability

Manuel Häußler wants to turn the way we produce and even think about plastics upside down. In his vision of a #CircularEconomy, chemistry produces high-performance #plastics (comparable to what we're used to) but ➡️From waste and by-products instead of fossil fuels ➡️ using much less energy, thanks to natural processes like yeast and algae fermentation ➡️That can be completely recycled at the end of its life ➡️ restarting the cycle For his project, Manuel received the German Studienpreis 2022 by the Körber-Stiftung and funding by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen.
