Many startups fail because they run out of cash long before they can land product market fit. Here is a study that Lenny Rachitsky conducted on today’s top B2B startups. It looks at how long they took to get to: (1) Live Product (2) First customer (3) First feeling PMF TLDR: The median time for these B2B companies to get a feel of PMF was 2 years, and some took as long as 4+ years. What this means: It usually takes longer than you think it will to find PMF, and potentially multiple pivots. Create scenarios, consider a longer time frame, and plan your raises.

Recently I read a superb book *"Make your own luck"*, where Mr. Bob Miglani and Mr. Rehan Yar Khan mentioned many turnaround stories of startups and how they created there own luck by choosing the hard path. One of the turnaround story is PharmEasy which have transformed business from just being a pharmacy aggregator to complete solution provider by focusing on 3 factors 1) Create a superb customer experience 2) Create value for everyone in the entire ecosystem. 3) Build a moat around their system so others would have a difficult time copying them.
