🇫🇷 Where is the money going for French FoodTech startups?
We have just released our yearly report on the state of the French FoodTech ecosystem (add a comment if you'd like the link to the full report), and one of the most striking graphs is about the distribution of the money int terms of regions:
As for the British FoodTech ecosystem (the most comparable in Europe), investments in French startups are heavily concentrated in the capital.
It should be noted that investments are attributed to the headquarters. Now, leaders, even if their HQ is in Paris, are developing industrial capabilities in other regions (as HappyVore in the région Centre, or SWAP Food in the East), helping to spread the value created by these startups.

Since the food industry is the main industry in Thailand, NIA has collaborated with partners in both public and private sectors to promote innovation-based startups and entrepreneurs in the food industry through SPACE-F program, which is Thailand’s first global food tech startup incubator and accelerator.
Combining technology and innovation with the strength of Thailand's food industry, which is said to be ‘World's Kitchen’, will increase competitive opportunities for Thai startups who want to enter the world stage, and will also make Thailand an attractive destination for startups and investors from around the world.
Besides being a part of developing the ecosystem that facilitates the growth of FoodTech startups, it can push Thailand towards becoming "Innovation Nation" and move up to the top 30 in the Global Innovation Index (GII) by 2030.

Onego Bio's #bioalbumen is a revolutionary animal-free egg protein produced through #precision#fermentation. This product is bioidentical to #ovalbumin, the major #protein in chicken egg whites, and offers a range of functional benefits. Bioalbumen contains all essential amino acids and boasts a protein digestibility score (PDCAAS) of 1.0, making it nutritionally complete with over 90 grams of protein per 100 grams.
Solar Foods offers a novel protein called #Solein, produced through a unique process that utilizes CO2, air, and electricity. This protein is derived from a natural, non-modified #microorganism and is grown in controlled #bioreactors, eliminating the need for #traditional#agricultural resources such as arable land, water, and fertilizers.
Solein is highly nutritious, comprising 65-70% protein, 5-8% fat, 10-15% dietary fiber, and 3-5% mineral nutrients. It contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Its macronutrient profile is similar to that of dried soy or algae, and it also provides iron, fiber, and B vitamins.
Enifer's offering centers around its novel protein product, #PEKILO®, a #mycoprotein produced through fungal fermentation. Originally developed in the 1970s for the Finnish forest industry, PEKILO® has been adapted and enhanced by Enifer to convert various industrial by-products into a high-protein, sustainable ingredient (Enifer) (foodingredientsfirst.com).
PEKILO® is highly versatile and contains up to 70% protein, 20-30% high-quality fiber (mainly beta-glucan), about 10% fats and minerals, and is rich in vitamin B. The protein powder is neutral in taste and color, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including plant-based meat alternatives, baked goods, dairy substitutes, and aquafeeds.
