Today at 11am, The Grenfell Enquiry, published its final report into the fire at Grenfell which started on the 14th of June 2017, and killed 72 people. The report has found that significant dishonesty by multiple parties was a major root cause of a completely avoidable disaster. We welcome the publication of the report and will be reading through it, and digesting it over the next few days & weeks, to ensure our clients are well briefed on the implications of the report. Thouria Istephan’s summary on what is required moving forward should be a sober reminder and call to anyone involved in the construction industry to take responsibility for looking after their fellow humans. “We have found many failings of a wide range of institutions, organisations and individuals that spanned many years, which together led to the terrible fire at Grenfell Tower. They include many failures of the construction industry, my own industry, where I will focus my comments today. Our recommendations put responsibility and burdens on [specific] people in organisations. I make no apology for that. Put simply if you work in the construction industry and you do not feel the weight of responsibility for keeping people safe, you are in the wrong job.” You can watch the full release on YouTube. https://lnkd.in/eze_Xg7N

Grenfell: Everybody involved in construction should take 45 minutes to watch this summary by the enquiry team. And from now on every design team session, client meeting and site progress meeting should begin with a ‘Grenfell moment’ where we ask ourselves is any practice, process, bias, or failure in curiosity even remotely similar to that which happened on Grenfell happening on this project? https://lnkd.in/eHrmMDXX

To guarantee structural stability in construction, the bulk earthwork process includes filling, compacting, and stabilizing the earth for a robust foundation. This is vital for success as it prevents settling, boosts load-bearing capacity, and reduces the risk of long-term structural damage…a priority in projects handled by Noble Sovrano.

Did you know? The Bourne and Sagamore Bridges were originally built as drawbridges in 1911 and 1913, respectively, during the dredging and construction of the Cape Cod Canal, which was only 100 feet wide at that time. Both bridges were electrically operated to lift for maritime vessels; however, navigating the Canal’s swift current while waiting for the bridges to rise proved to be very dangerous, limiting Canal traffic and leading to the bridges being rebuilt in 1933. We are extremely excited to announce that BMF PORT BURGAS AD has been approved by the European Commission to receive a new grant under the project From East 2 West Connections. The project aims to construct new railway tracks with a total length of almost 4000 meters and а marshalling yard, within the maritime core port of Burgas, part of the Orient / East-Med Corridor of the TEN-T Network With a total budget of EUR 10,762,760, co-financed by the European Commission and BMF Port Burgas, the project will increase the capacity of the railway infrastructure within the port, reducing the congestion and the operating interferences in the areas used for trains’ loading and unloading and support other major infrastructure projects like the new REBIRTH28 deepwater berth, currently under construction. Additionally, the new tracks will enhance exploiting the potential for sea-rail intermodality inside the port, resolving issues that hinder rail traffic growth to and from the port. #BMFPortBurgas #RailwayInfrastructure #EuropeanCommission #MaritimeCorePort #OrientEastMedCorridor #Intermodality #InfrastructureDevelopment #GrantApproval #East2WestConnections
