As many are coming to realize these past few years, the pace of change and urgency needed to mitigate the negative impact of climate change impacts all of us while we still run the risk of leaving quite a few people behind as we pursue progress. Successfully combatting climate change means we are all on this journey together, enabled and empowered to participate. That’s why I’m excited about the Autodesk Foundation’s Inclusive Climate Innovation Initiative as part of our work in the climate technology space. In collaboration with organizations like Browning the Green Space, we can work together to support climate tech founders—especially women and minority led founders—who face greater barriers to accessing capital and resources for their climate solutions. Throughout my career, I’ve done a lot of community organizing within marginalized communities to help them actualize on their inherent strengths, leverage the power of their history, and find pathways to a healthier community. Sustainability naturally came up in this work, but not without challenges. Local residents often faced barriers of access and affordability, while sustainability professionals struggled to build trust or deeply understand the communities and their cultural gifts. I look forward to sharing more about this work as we continue to live up to our mission of designing and making a better world, for all 🌍 🌳 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gtTwPi2X #InclusiveInnovation #ClimateTech #DiversityInTech #VentureCapital #Autodesk 🖖
🌍 Diversity in Climate Tech Investing: Where is the Data?📊 We're excited to share the latest article, hosted on Impact Entrepreneur, in a series from Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) within the Autodesk Foundation’s Inclusive Climate Innovation Initiative (ICII). This series provides actionable insights to foster a more inclusive funding ecosystem. In the U.S., less than 3% of venture capital funding goes to Black and Latinx founders, and funding to Black founders has decreased year over year since 2020. This disparity is even more pronounced in climate tech investing, where diversity data is scarce, making it challenging to assess representation and distribution of capital. Hadas Webb, Deputy Director at Browning the Green Space, a nonprofit working to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, within clean energy, highlights how data has the power to pave the way for inclusive outcomes, ensuring that underrepresented entrepreneurs receive the support they need. 🔗 Read the full article to learn more about actions we can take together to harness the power of data for inclusion 🌱✨ Link in comments #InclusiveInnovation #ClimateTech #DiversityInTech #VentureCapital
