Chemical engineering plays a crucial role in many industrial sectors, and one of its most fascinating processes is the production of sulfuric acid in a foundry. This process is based on a series of complex and precise steps that guarantee the production of a high quality product. The manufacture of sulfuric acid begins with gas purification, drying, and oxidation of sulfur dioxide (SO₂). This gas is oxidized to sulfur trioxide (SO₃) in a catalyzed reaction, often using vanadium pentoxide (SO₂). V₂O₅) as a catalyst. The final step involves the absorption of SO₃ in water or acid at low concentration, which produces sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄). The foundry uses cutting-edge technologies to optimize each phase of the process. Advanced control systems monitor reaction conditions and conversion rates in real time, ensuring efficient and environmentally friendly production. Heat recovery processes make it possible to maximize energy efficiency and minimize emissions, the most recent of which is the HRS (Heat Recovery System) system. Thanks to these innovations, the production of sulfuric acid is of exceptional purity and efficiency, thus meeting the demanding needs of various industries, ranging from the manufacture of fertilizers to the production of basic chemicals.
