Breakbulk booking on the OOCL NZS (New Zealand Singapore) service from September at Port of Auckland. Funnily the idea to make the booking to Singapore sparked from taking the bus to work. Usually if I am running late for my bus to work my dad would drop me to a nearby intersection where several bus routes converged at. From here I can get more options for buses to get to work. So when the space on the second leg couldn’t be secured for the initial booking request due to bad congestion on that route and the customer was desperate for a solution to get the cargo moving, it seemed like only way forward was to apply a similar thinking as getting to work. That a hub port like Singapore is a place where all sorts of ships would be converging at and if the cargo was there it would open up more options for the customer to find a way to the final destination, whether on a container ship or other ship type even. As the first breakbulk type export booking for the NZ Office many things had to be learned on the go for this. To the point it felt like a game sometimes where many side quests had to be completed with different teams before the main mission can progress 🎮🤣 Very grateful to have some awesome colleagues and also an understanding & patient customer, as we all worked together over stumbling blocks encountered on the way to the loading day.   It’s a good thing had the whole loading event recorded on three different devices; my iPhone on right hand, DSLR camera on left hand and Samsung phone taped to the ship railing behind the bridge or would still have a hard time believing it all came together so well in the end 😍 #breakbulk #shipping #auckland #newzealand #singapore
