Quite often, people approach me here on LinkedIn asking for advice about my decision to pursue an MBA. I always reply that choosing an MBA or a master's degree should be tailored to your personal goals. In addition to securing your place during the admission process, you should take a deep dive into the universities' and course programmes' approaches to identify which one best aligns with your career aspirations. The interview with the programme representative, for example, is an excellent opportunity to discover what makes both the university and the course unique, making your decision easier. In my case, beyond the university’s reputation, my choice of the MBA at the University of Edinburgh was based on three key factors: 1. Cohort profile 2. City convenience 3. Programme approach The cohort is a crucial aspect to consider. While most MBA programmes expose you to similar business frameworks, the diversity and level of maturity in your cohort can significantly enhance your experience. In my cohort, we had participants from 23 different countries, with the majority having more than 10 years of experience. This greatly elevated the quality of discussions and learning. If you decide on a full-time programme, city convenience is another important factor. It’s where you’ll spend a significant amount of time over the next months or years. I chose Edinburgh for its well-balanced mix of cultural and touristic significance, combined with its growing relevance in the business world. Finally, the programme’s focus should connect with your career aspirations. As you may know, many MBA programmes have a strong finance orientation. My decision to study at Edinburgh was influenced by its focus on leadership development. While the frameworks tend to be similar across MBAs, I found that my time at the University of Edinburgh made me feel like a master of learning itself. I am now confident in navigating different positions and industries. I hope this post helps you in making your master's/MBA decision, especially as the academic year 2024/25 approaches. Obs: This post reflects my personal perspective and does not represent the views of the University of Edinburgh or any of its staff. #MBA #Leadership #EdinburghMBA #HigherEducation #CareerGrowth #MastersDegree #BusinessEducation #UniversityOfEdinburgh #ProfessionalDevelopment #Career

“Why MBA?” I’ve been asked this question by almost everyone that I know. 🤔 This question honestly didn’t surprise me much. Because when I joined the MBA program at Schulich School of Business - York University, I had already completed a Master of Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship. 😎 As I sat in my MBA classes and listened to the thoughts and experiences of my peers, I realized how humbling learning really can be. Sure, by the time that we would all graduate, we would know the confidence of graduating from the number 1 ranked MBA program in Canada, we would have business jargon ready at the tip of their tongues, and we’d be equipped with the skills to solve many business problems. But the skills you've learned, the confidence that you’ve gotten, and the diploma you’ve earned is not the end. The real game just begins at this point! 🚀 Until you go out into the real world and start solving real problems for real people, you learn that there is so much that you still don’t know. 🤓 It makes you realize that you can spend your entire life studying and there would always be more to learn. More to learn from each problem you solve, each person you interact with, each team you work with, so on and so forth. It doesn’t matter what you study. What matters is that you learn to stay humble, stay hungry, and let every day be another chance to learn something new. 🙏 To ensure that you continue to grow, you must constantly seek opportunities and challenges that force you to get out of your comfort zone. 😊 The moment you stop doing that, you stop learning, and you stop growing! #learn #getoutofyourcomfortzone

At the end of this summer, my son will be leaving the bird’s nest to take a big step in his professional life: He’s starting an #MBA at the IE University in Spain! We’re all very excited about the news. Seeing his actions, knowing the hard work it takes to start such a journey, and the efforts he’s making to grow his career make me feel even more proud of him. Not many people expect this at first, but your cultural background can make a noticeable impact on how you learn and lead your colleagues, especially in education. The environment that MBAs produce generates a fascinating interplay between cultural dimensions and competencies which help students expand their perspectives, foster diverse viewpoints, and elevate their effectiveness as leaders! I encourage prospective MBA students to embrace the opportunity and be opened to the transformative power of studying an MBA in an intercultural environment 🔎 It’s not an opportunity to do it yourself; leverage the moment to expand your network to Global heights! This inspired me to write a short article about the benefits of studying abroad for MBAs (I’ll include the link down below). Join me as I do a deep dive into how understanding cultural nuances can transform your global learning experience, ensuring you get the most out of it. #GlobalMBA #CulturalDimensions #Leadership #DiversityAndInclusion #CareerGrowth 🌍✨
