As we move forward in 2024, I'm filled with cautious optimism for the construction sector. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, there are several positive indicators for the year ahead. 1️⃣ Government-Funded Projects: Publicly funded ICI and infrastructure projects continue to support the industry, providing a strong backbone for our activities. 2️⃣Stabilizing Costs: Construction costs have stabilized, offering more predictable project expenses and fostering confidence in project planning. 3️⃣Labour and Resource Management: While we still face a labour crunch, initiatives to attract and retain skilled workers are crucial to our ongoing success. "With the current economic conditions, we cautiously expect the feds to slowly lower the interest rates this year, which will help projects get closer to becoming viable." – Mike Wieninger, COO of Canadian operations with PCL Construction Looking forward to collaborating with industry leaders and continuing to drive progress. #ConstructionIndustry #Infrastructure #ProjectManagement #ConstructionGrowth ❓What are your thoughts on the positive indicators for the year ahead? Webinar: Avoiding methodological nightmares in evaluations MDF is celebrating its 40th anniversary. What has been front and centre, from our first evaluations until today, is how we deal every day with managing client expectations. In this webinar, we discuss handling methodological nightmares. How do we cope with methodological requests that seem not to fit their purpose? What should we do if resources do not meet the ambition of the scope? On 13 November, two experienced evaluators, Mike Zuijderduijn from MDF Netherlands and James Ngugi, PMP® from MDF Eastern and Southern Africa, will share a case study that illustrates these challenges and offer practical insights to help you manage unfeasible methodological requests and align client expectations. 📅 Date: 13 November 2024 ⏰ Time: 11–11:45 AM CET 🌐Language: English More information and registration: https://lnkd.in/epzXHxs4 #freewebinar #evaluations #M&E #impactevaluation

⭐ Next in our series of Friday Midday Webinars - 21st June: Driving Commercial Performance with Mark Lyddon and Richard Wood. ⭐A bold and fresh approach is needed to transform commercial performance. We need to move away from the fragmented, transactional contracting and commercial arrangements which are holding our industry back. With increased programme scale and complexity, the short-term monetary objectives of traditional strategies will fail to deliver the levels of commercial performance required. We can be more ambitious challenging our strategies to take into account a broader set of outcomes. Communities around the world benefit hugely from the power of infrastructure investment. Infrastructure spending is being looked to as a central solution to many policy challenges. In response, the sector needs to transform how we plan and deliver major programmes so we can fulfil infrastructure’s potential to play its part in benefitting global communities and in helping to address the climate emergency head-on. Around the world, we see great examples of excellence and ambition. The goal for our industry needs to be to make these examples the norm – driving high performance consistently on complex major programmes. This session will explore the challenges and pose solutions how we can collaborate to achieve better outcomes. Register now for free: https://lnkd.in/eA9Yek9J
