BROMEDIR was recently communicated at two of the worlds' largest expos happening in Europe. The “hy-fcell – International Expo and Conference 2024" in Stuttgart (hydrogen and fuel cell technology) once again successfully attracted more than 3,000 attendees from 35 countries and 189 exhibitors, with this year also introducing two new focused areas; the University Area arranged in collaboration with the German Hydrogen Association (DWV) where our BROMEDIR partner Technische Universität Wien (Vienna University of Technology) was one of the leading Universities that participated with Prof. DI Dr. Michael Harasek group communicating the work being performed within the project and another area focused on Start-ups where new innovative solutions were pitched to potential investors and industry leaders in the field.  The project developments were also communicated at last month’s renowned Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2024 with more than 15K attendees, 6 conference tracks, >300 speakers, >950 exhibitors, all of which covering the entire hydrogen value chain and focusing on developing solutions and innovations with the full range of esteemed names from Academia and from all sizes up to the biggest players in Industry demonstrating the very latest technology. We’re excited to report a successful visit to this week’s Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2024 in Hamburg, where we sponsored the EIC’s UK Pavilion ( https://bit.ly/4eUHG5v ) and released the results of our recent hydrogen plasmolysis trials, backed by the UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Our CTO, David Deegan’s, presentation on the future potential of plasmolysis for the full hydrogen economy ( https://bit.ly/4dZXm6t ) showcased the viability of plasmolysis for green hydrogen production at greater efficiency and lower cost than electrolysis. We also found the time to listen to a wide range of fellow speakers and exhibitors at this vibrant and busy expo. Recurring discussion themes included: calls for clearer policy, fiscal and infrastructure frameworks; a strong emphasis on safety, quality and environmental performance; and a need for reliable and cost-effective clean electricity sources to power the green hydrogen economy. Which technologies can contribute to sustainable mobility 🌍? This important topic was discussed on 26th November during the "Hydrogen Research and Development" – Ricerca e Sviluppo sull’Idrogeno – event organised by the National Research Council (CNR) at the Università della Calabria, where UFI Hydrogen shared its role within the IPCEI program, Project of Common European Interest Hy2Move for the development of innovative MEAs (Membrane Electrode Assembly) for fuel cells, intended for sectors such as road transport, maritime, aviation and stationary applications. #IPCEI #Hy2Move #UFIhydrogen #greentechinnovators #sustainablemobility

✈ Conference Reflections from Senior FutureGrid Engineer ✈ Dr. Lisa Witty, a Senior Engineer on the FutureGrid Deblending Hydrogen for Transportation project, has recently returned from two events: European Transport Conference in Antwerp and, closer to home, Cenex Expo 2024 at the Milbrook Proving Ground. As always, conference findings are shared within the team and we thought it was a good opportunity to showcase the types of stakeholder activity we undertake as a team and as a business.🤝 Lisa presented at the main plenary of Cenex, sharing her thoughts on the future of the gas grid, as hydrogen becomes part of the future energy landscape. This led to interesting discussions about the energy transition and how the future of hydrogen transportation may develop with assistance from National Gas for refuelling and hydrogen supply.⛽   Lisa, a hydrogen expert said how great it was to see a variety of hydrogen transportation options, with vehicles from Wrightbus, Toyota Motor Corporation and Vauxhall Motors Ltd as well as opportunities to discuss refuelling, challenges and the future with a wide range of the hydrogen transportation supply chain members.   The ETC 2024 event had a greater focus on technical papers, with an academic and consultant viewpoint of transportation strategies for Europe. She saw that decarbonisation was seen as a real challenge across many of the different transport methodologies, with hydrogen not yet seen as part of the solution. Despite the omission of hydrogen from the proceedings, there were excellent opportunities to network with a wide range of technical abilities and interests including economics, decarbonisation, social-politic and engineering backgrounds bringing hydrogen to the forefront of the discussions. She shared with the team that the two events were opposite in approach and opinion to each other with one being led by academia and one being led by suppliers, and this has generated wider discussions at National Gas about how we engage different types of stakeholders in the future.
