Working with your board and council is key to aligning strategy for the future of your community. A reminder that in our industry, an open mind is one of the best things a board, council or court member can bring to the table. Grateful to have that in a community where I work AND live. #medc #mckinney #mckinneytexas #mckinneytx #pipeline #projectpipeline #development #economicdevelopment #land #landdevelopment #strategy #strategicthinking #strategicplanning #boardretreat
We spent the day yesterday with our staff and board evaluating and strategizing about our high-level misson, KPI's, and goals, and it felt only fitting to end the day on the eighth floor of the District 121 Building as the highest point in McKinney. Thankful to have a board and staff with great vision to see the future, hearts to strengthen the community, and hands to work out what strategic growth in McKinney can look like. This National Partnership for Child Safety convening is a genuine milestone in the application of safety science to child protection. Moving away from a knee-jerk “blame game” response when critical incidents occur, safety science offers an evidence-based way to identify the factors that influence child protective decision-making, with the goal of preventing future child fatalities and serious injuries. It shifts the focus to system improvements that will have a greater long-term impact on saving lives. https://lnkd.in/eDhqWu-y

As Reinvestment Fund has worked on improving access to healthy, fresh foods in underserved communities, we have devoted significant resources to understanding such access, particularly in low-income areas. Our Limited Supermarket Access (LSA) Analysis has guided decisions for over a decade, helping to identify inequitable food access and drive investments in areas that need them most. The Richmond Agrihood project highlights the ongoing challenges in equitable land use and community-driven food solutions. Research shows that tackling food insecurity requires support for innovative projects that go beyond the traditional supermarket. Despite strong community backing, the project was stalled, underscoring the need to reform local zoning codes to enable urban agriculture practices and address food access disparities. 🔗 @ https://lnkd.in/eS4GT5Yr
