Among TPP's many supported initiatives is a touching collaboration with UAid Direct in Ukraine, where an orphanage-lyceum provides shelter, education, and hope to 200 children affected by the ongoing conflict. Through our seedgrant program, we helped transform critical spaces within this vital institution. From renovating essential bathroom facilities to equipping an arts and music room with new instruments and supplies, these improvements reflect TPP's belief that all children deserve spaces that nurture their wellbeing and potential. What made this project truly special was the dedication of the staff who work tirelessly to create enriching experiences for children aged 4-17. Their commitment to organizing creative activities embodies TPP's mission of supporting grassroots changemakers who build more compassionate communities. Even in challenging circumstances, the team witnessed how strategic support of local initiatives can create sanctuaries where young lives can flourish. At TPP, we believe that every grant towards human dignity, no matter the size, plants seeds of transformative change. This Ukrainian orphanage-lyceum stands as one of many examples of that vision in action. 💙💛 #HumanRights #Ukraine #GrassrootsChange #SocialImpact #Education #Community #PollinationProject #philanthropy #grants Join us in supporting more projects that protect and uplift human dignity worldwide. Challenging the Narrative: Education and Sensitivity in the North Recently, a radio announcement in the North stated that if a child misses even one day of school, family services will be called. This statement has left me reflecting on how policies and communications often overlook the unique realities of life in northern and remote communities. Children miss school for various reasons—whether it's due to transportation issues, mental health struggles, harsh weather conditions, or family obligations. Threatening families with intervention from family services only adds fear and pressure, rather than providing the understanding and support they need. Education should be rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration. Instead of punitive measures, we need solutions that address the underlying challenges families face. Communities in the North often experience barriers that those in urban areas may not fully understand. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work here, and it’s important that we push for policies that reflect the diversity and complexity of our environments. Let’s advocate for policies that support families, foster trust, and ensure that children have the resources they need to succeed—without the threat of punishment. It’s time to rethink how we approach education and social support in the North, and work toward building systems that uplift rather than alienate. ⭐ The arts and culture industry supports jobs, generates government tax revenue, strengthens the visitor economy and community vibrancy, and helps to preserve authentic cultural experiences. ⭐ Americans for the Arts recently launched The Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), a report that measures the economic & social impact of nonprofit arts & culture organizations & their audiences. ⭐ The CAA is one of 373 national nonprofit organizations who spent a year and a half gathering data by conducting targeted audience-intercept surveys from event attendees from January 2022 through April 2023. Western Sydney Women participated in the 'A stronger, more diverse and independent community sector' inquiry by the Department of Social Services (DSS). ⏩ We support the implementation of place-based funding and suggest that these grants and tenders are also made available to community organisations outside of the non-profit sector. ⏩ With Western Sydney being a large geographical area, we would take the opportunity to deliver programs to specific communities with specialised needs. We have strong local ties across Western Sydney, and as a result, we have strong support from our community and high levels of engagement in our programs. ⏩ With the implementation of place-based funding, we recommend that organisations delivering these programs connect with and subcontract to local providers. We have implemented this successfully in several programs and this also provides local providers with the opportunity to implement similar programs at a micro level moving forward. ⏩ Community-led initiatives and feedback are essential for the success of place-based programs. We recommend that providers of place-based programs consider the need for regular feedback and consultation with community members. ⏩ Western Sydney Women have developed a yearly research project to better understand the needs of our community, with data on specific needs by postcode to enable us to better understand the areas we work in and develop local projects.
