In-person workshops will take place in every capital city with interested organisations, practitioners, academics and peak bodies. Limited workshops will also be held online. Gaining consent is fundamental to safe, healthy and pleasurable sexual activity and relationships. The Australian Government has launched The Commonwealth Consent Policy Framework (the Framework). The Framework: • Provides a clear and consistent definition of what consent means across activities, programs and products. • Provides practical advice on how to communicate with young people about healthy sexual relationships and consent. • Identifies ways to address the underlying gendered drivers of sexual violence to promote positive attitudinal and behavioural change. Today, the Australian Government released the National Carer Strategy 2024-2034. Carers are an essential and important part of the Australian community – supporting, advocating for and empowering the people they provide care for. The Strategy acknowledges the immense contribution of Australia’s unpaid carers to the community and explains where efforts will be prioritised – making sure carers feel heard and recognised. The Strategy aims to improve awareness of carers, their roles, the impacts of supporting others and availability of carer supports and services. In this video from the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission, members of the Lived Experience Advisory Council answer these important questions: · What does valuing people with lived experience look like? · If lived experience was successfully embedded into policy making, what would be different in 10 years? · Why should government engage with people with lived experience? The Commission works to ensure that people with lived and living experience of domestic, family and sexual violence have opportunities to be at the centre of decisions made about them, their lives and their experience.
