Walking With Waterfalls – The Benefits I love About Hiking On Saturday I hiked for the day, with fellow Hiker’s, in the area of Sheep River, Kananaskis Country, Alberta, Canada. We saw Creeks, River’s, Waterfalls, and, a hidden lake, called Whiskey Lake, on the Whiskey Jack Trail. In the Sheep River area, it’s possible to link many of the trails, to hike for as long, or as short, as you prefer. The elevation of our hike was approximately 210m/700ft, over a gradual climb; making this hike easy for beginners and people of all ages and abilities. None of us were in a rush, so we linked a number of trails together, and were out for the whole day. There was a fair amount of snow, and we encountered around 20 minutes when the heaven’s opened, and it snowed (thankfully, no rain) – so, if you’re out for the day, dress in layer’s, and come prepared for all weather-events! As we all know, there are numerous benefits to walking, and, hiking. It’s hard to list my top 3 reasons for being an avid Hiker, so I am settling for my top 5 reasons; not in any particular order: 1. Physical Fitness – Hiking promotes overall fitness. 2. Stress Reduction – Connecting with nature instantly reduces stress levels, while being invigorating and mentally uplifting. 3. Friendship – Meeting people with similar interests (and having a laugh while exercising together) can be quite motivational, and, enjoyable. 4. Increased Energy – Hiking improves energy levels, while building stamina and endurance. 5. Continued Learning – Learning about Hiking, Other’s, and, the environment. So, if you’re new to Hiking, or would like to give it a go, Sheep River in Kananaskis has a lot to offer; it’s great for families too. There are many picnic benches, and, metal barbeque/fire pits for day-use. #Weights2Go #SportySolutions Hiking #Hikers #SheepRiver #WhiskeyJackTrail #JunctionCreekTrail #BluerockTrail #WhiskeyLake #Kananaskis #KananaskisCountry #Alberta #Canada #Fit #Fitness #Exercise #Workout #Walking #Walk #Hike

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Take a hike! If you’re looking to stay healthy and have fun, hiking is a great way to stay fit and enjoy nature’s best, all while spending quality time with family or new friends. Maybe you’re a bird lover or simply want to explore local attractions you’ve been putting off. Just make sure you’re prepared with these quick tips. 1️⃣ Choose a variety of trails. Start small and local and expand from there. To find some good trails, look online or talk with someone at an outdoors shop. Some trails are even rated by difficulty, distance and terrain type. 2️⃣ Be prepared. Check the forecast, know your distance and have a plan for your return. Do you need a permit or is there an entrance fee for your destination? Bring snacks, water and a phone in case you have challenges or get lost. 3️⃣ Find a buddy. Or two. Hiking with others isn’t only more fun, it’s safer. You can build relationships all while feeling more secure venturing around places you’re probably not familiar with. 4️⃣ Hike at your own pace. Moving too quickly to keep up with others could cause fatigue or even injury if you strain a muscle or step on something you didn’t anticipate. Keep a comfortable pace that’s right for you. 5️⃣ Dress appropriately. Dress in layers and always be ready in case the weather changes. Walking shoes or sneakers should be fine, but you may need hiking boots if the terrain is rough. Socks are important and should be able to handle getting wet, all while allowing your feet to breathe.

You need to do this on your next hike !!!! Most people think hiking is about pushing your limits. It’s not. It's about preparing for the best experience. Here’s what you need to do for your next hike: 📌 Plan for the unexpected. ↳ Always check the weather but pack for surprises. ↳ Rain, cold, extra snacks—be ready. 📌 Get the right gear. ↳ Invest in shoes that fit well and support. ↳ A good backpack makes a world of difference. 📌 Fuel the right way. ↳ Choose protein snacks over sugary bars. ↳ Keep energy consistent with slow-burning carbs. 📌 Bring a map. ↳ Don’t rely only on apps—carry a physical map. ↳ GPS can fail when you need it most. 📌 Hydrate early. ↳ Start hydrating the night before your hike. ↳ Keep drinking water throughout the day. 📌 Stay present. ↳ Capture photos but put the camera down too. ↳ Enjoy the beauty of the moment. P.S. What’s your best hiking tip for making the experience unforgettable? #HikingTips #OutdoorAdventure #StayPrepared

I've never been a huge fan of hiking. My hiking experience might probably be on just two occasions. Although I like the idea of ‘hiking’, it’s fun to say the least but I’d probably just prefer to do more Boat cruising activities. But here's the thing - life has a way of telling stories and teaching lessons, even in the most unexpected ways. And hiking, as it turns out, is a pretty great metaphor for life's journey. Think about it - life is full of mountains and valleys. The mountains representing our aspirations, dreams, and most triumphant achievements. They symbolize our strength, resilience, and determination. But the valleys? They represent our darkest struggles, our deepest fears, and our most crippling doubts. They symbolize our vulnerability, our humility, and our willingness to surrender. But here's the beauty of it all - it's in the valleys that we discover our true strength. It's where we learn to embrace our flaws, confront our fears, and find beauty in the brokenness. And when we finally reach the pinnacle, we realize that it's not just about the view from the top, but about the journey itself. It's not just about the mountain, but about the valley. It's not just about the triumph, but about the transformation. So, do I still enjoy hiking? Not really. But do I appreciate the lessons it teaches us about life? Absolutely. And that's what matters most. How about you?- are you a hiking enthusiast, or do you prefer a different adventure? As we often say, Thank God its Friday! #Living #Adventures #Journey #Humanity

Five things to do *before* heading out to the trail 👇 (Save this post!) 1️⃣ Let people know where you’ll be hiking and when you expect to be back. This is important whether you are going on a day hike at a nearby park or on a multi-day hike. The best insurance is a written reminder with all your information left behind with someone who is not going and who is expecting you back or to check in by a certain time. 2️⃣ Study the trail map. Have a good understanding of the route you will be hiking. Download the trail map in case you lose service and/or have a paper map handy. Read trail reviews from hikers who were recently on the trail, this can offer insight into what to expect on the trail, and any useful trail updates (like closures, wildlife sightings, etc.). 3️⃣ Have a time control plan. Predetermine where you ought to be at certain points of the day using your map. Factor in your walking speed based on the number of people on the hike as well as their fitness level. Remember that when traveling as a group, you are only as fast as the slowest person in the group. If you're planning to start or finish your hike in the dark, don't forget to pack your headlamp and/or a flashlight (one of the 10 Essentials!). 4️⃣ Check the weather and pack accordingly, keeping in mind that the weather at the base of a mountain and halfway up a mountain can be vastly different. Rain gear (one of the 10 Essentials!) should be brought even if no rain is predicted, as wet clothes can cause a person to become hypothermic even with temperatures in the 50’s. 5️⃣ Pack the 10 Essentials so you are well prepared for a day on the trail. From water to food and every essential in between, these things will keep you safe on the trail and ready for the unexpected. #AmericanHikingSociety #AmericanHiking #HikingTips #Hiking101 #HikingResources #HikingAdvice #Hikers #HikingCommunity #HikingTrails #10Essentials #HikingTip #MaroonBells #SummerHiking #HikingAdventures #HikingTrips #DayHike #DayHikes #BackpackingTrip #BackpackingTrails #HikingTrail
