Creating something timeless…. “Music's staying power is a function of how timeless the lyrics, song and production are.” Gary Wright. In a world where content and what is trending comes and goes in the blink of an eye, creating something truly timeless is both a challenge and aspirational. Whatever your field: an artist, a writer, a designer, or an entrepreneur, the desire to leave a lasting impact with your work is the ultimate legacy. Last week at Royal Albert Hall, I photographed some iconic artist of the British urban music scene. This included Harvey from SO SOLID CREW. I watched So Solid perform a track to an audience, most of whom were not yet born when the track was released in 2001. And yet the audience appreciated the track by ecstatically miming word for word, creating an incredible atmosphere in the auditorium. In the realm of photography, there exists a transcendent quality that goes beyond mere aesthetics – it's the essence of timelessness. As a headshot photographer, my work is about encapsulating the very essence of an individual, creating a timeless piece of work that resonates for years to come. Creating a timeless headshot is focusing on lighting, authenticity, connection, and attention to detail. A timeless headshot becomes more than just a photograph – it becomes a legacy, preserving the essence of the subject for generations to come. Good morning. Creative weekend Ray here, thinking about ‘gear acquisition syndrome’. 📷 People with creative hobbies like music and photography often get stuck in a trap. They convince themselves that yet another bit of expensive equipment will be the very thing they need. With the right camera, they'll finally get that photo project done. With the right guitar or synthesiser they'll get that album recorded. But it's probably not gear that's the blockage – it's time, and focus. In fact, one great creative exercise is to take an old or limited piece of equipment and force yourself to use it to make *something*. Read the manual. Play with the toys you've got. #photography #music #creativity
